About Jericho Coffee Traders:

Kiwi James and his wife Lizzie had always been in love with the idea of having their own coffee business, often scheming about how they would go about starting it up.

The opportunity came in 2009 when they found a beautiful Vespa trike for sale on the side of the road, and both thought: “that needs a coffee machine on the back of it”! And so, Jericho Coffee Traders was born!

Now we have a thriving online business and three locations in Oxford, UK - our Espresso bar on the High Street, our Cafe at the Oxford Castle, and our Cafe & Roastery on Osney Mead - all serving delicious espresso and filter coffees accompanied by locally made pastries and cakes.

We both enjoyed this incredible insight and practical experience of the world of ‘coffee.’ The two hours went so quickly, but we definitely left eager to practise making those lattes and research our first ‘proper’ coffee machine! The environment was very calm; the group small and the trainer was very inspiring. Thank you for a great day!

We booked the course wishing to improve our ability to dial in and taste espresso, coming from a background of already having a fairly good knowledge of the subject. It was an excellent experience; Viktor was very knowledgeable and an effective educator and the course content was very well structured. We got exactly what we had been expecting from the course when we booked it and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of the area.

This is a great way to spend a couple of hours - very practical/hands-on, loads of background (I'd had no idea of the technical/science behind coffee), plenty of hints and tips for getting the best out of your home machine. I've already changed how I make my coffee, and am having great fun improving my lattes! Thank you for a great experience.

A really great introduction to coffee and barista training, not as easy as it looks however I’m now much better prepared to make a better espresso shot!

Victor was professional, super well informed friendly, welcoming, organised and knew the direction he was going in. All questions answered with knowledge and good humour. Latte art is still a work in progress but came away thinking I get it! Great way to spend two hours complete with roastery tour. Highly recommended. Thank you Victor and JCT for more than redeeming previous experience.

I recently had a 2 hour barista training course at Jericho Coffee Traders. Victor was so well prepared, so experienced and constantly eager to answer all questions and demonstrate (and re-demonstrate) practicals. Really appreciated that he squeezed in a tour of the roastery too. I'd recommend this session to anyone who loves coffee and wants to perfect (or learn from scratch) their coffee-making skills!

I would recommned this course to anyone who has an interest in coffee and wants to up their home barista skills and knowledge. The info provided was at just the right level, without being too simplistic or overly technical. Victor, (Iceland's top Barista!) was able to answer all our random questions, and was a delightul host. The balance between 'classroom' and practical learning was just right, and it was great to taste the differences between an under and overextraction to help with the dialling in. We also learnt the theory of latte art, though it will take me a while to turn my turnip into a heart!
