About Jericho Coffee Traders:

Kiwi James and his wife Lizzie had always been in love with the idea of having their own coffee business, often scheming about how they would go about starting it up.

The opportunity came in 2009 when they found a beautiful Vespa trike for sale on the side of the road, and both thought: “that needs a coffee machine on the back of it”! And so, Jericho Coffee Traders was born!

Now we have a thriving online business and three locations in Oxford, UK - our Espresso bar on the High Street, our Cafe at the Oxford Castle, and our Cafe & Roastery on Osney Mead - all serving delicious espresso and filter coffees accompanied by locally made pastries and cakes.

A really great introduction to coffee and barista training, not as easy as it looks however I’m now much better prepared to make a better espresso shot!

Victor was professional, super well informed friendly, welcoming, organised and knew the direction he was going in. All questions answered with knowledge and good humour. Latte art is still a work in progress but came away thinking I get it! Great way to spend two hours complete with roastery tour. Highly recommended. Thank you Victor and JCT for more than redeeming previous experience.

I recently had a 2 hour barista training course at Jericho Coffee Traders. Victor was so well prepared, so experienced and constantly eager to answer all questions and demonstrate (and re-demonstrate) practicals. Really appreciated that he squeezed in a tour of the roastery too. I'd recommend this session to anyone who loves coffee and wants to perfect (or learn from scratch) their coffee-making skills!

I would recommned this course to anyone who has an interest in coffee and wants to up their home barista skills and knowledge. The info provided was at just the right level, without being too simplistic or overly technical. Victor, (Iceland's top Barista!) was able to answer all our random questions, and was a delightul host. The balance between 'classroom' and practical learning was just right, and it was great to taste the differences between an under and overextraction to help with the dialling in. We also learnt the theory of latte art, though it will take me a while to turn my turnip into a heart!

I thoroughly enjoyed this training with Victor. He is very knowledgeable and skilled and pitched the training at just the right level. I have already successfully applied the skills he taught us and my coffee making is much improved. I have yet to master the the milk/foam techniques, but thanks to the training, I'll keep practicing! Highly recommend this training for novice Baristas.

If you want to learn about how to make an expresso on their machine for over an hour then this is the training for you. While the two ladies delivering the session were very lovely and knowledgable about coffee, the content of the session did not relate to the advertised content, we made 2 expresso and had a go at 2 latte art, with no techniques to improve. There was limited variety in the content. There was also no pastry on arrival, instead we got a tiny overcooked pastry ( 1 each) half way through. The two ladies spent the first 20 minutes eating their own breakfast, that time could have been better spent tidying up the toys scattered all over the coffee shop floor and putting a bit more prep into the session. Really disappointed.

Hi Paul, Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. Very useful feedback for us which will lead to some definite sharpening up of what we do going forward. Honest reviews are the best way for us to learn and improve what we do. I'm so sorry that you didn't get the training you expected. I'll be in touch 'off-air' on your direct email as well to recify this. Thanks and sorry again, James

The instructor was very friendly and a good teacher. The information was interesting and easy to understand. I enjoyed learning about how to use the machines, steam the milk and make latte art.
