Garth Cottage is a luxurious four-bedroom holiday cottage at Storrs Park, one mile from Bowness-on-Windermere. The house has been richly decorated and beautifully styled with opulent textures, bold colours, and high-end fittings to provide a fabulous self-catering holiday cottage for family or friends near Windermere and the Lake.

The ground floor offers plenty of space for all to enjoy, starting with the spacious lounge with gorgeous sofas and armchairs, a log fire, and bay doors leading out to the patio and the established gardens. Secondly, there is the garden room with a sliding door onto the patio and a cosy snug with a gas fire.

Planning a family meal? No problem! The large dining room and the large kitchen, with an Aga plus a gas hob, will allow you to cook up a superb family meal. The kitchen also offers a casual dining area with fabulous garden views—perfect for a morning cuppa.

Upstairs are the four beautiful bedrooms, there king-size double bedrooms (two of which are en-suite) and a twin with two single beds. Quality bedding and comfy beds make for a peaceful sleep.

Storrs Park is a small hamlet conveniently situated just a few minutes from Bowness-on-Windermere and within easy reach of several country pubs. All the bedrooms and living rooms benefit from beautiful views of the garden, the fells or both.

We love the fabulous colours throughout the house, and the living room with the log burner is stunning!

“We booked Garth Cottage for our family for a week in late March. There were 10 of us including two kids. The house is beautiful and is the perfect destination for a family get together. The photos on the website were good but don’t actually do the place justice! The location is quiet and peaceful being at the end of a private road, and the garden is beautiful. The kitchen is fully kitted out, although the Aga was not functioning during our stay which was a shame. There is a seperate stove and oven though so no big deal. The living areas are spacious with large comfy sofas, and the log fire was a real treat. The bedrooms are all large and the beds were so comfortable. Overall, a great place to stay and I would 100% stay again.”

“The location of Garth Cottage is great, a short drive to Bowness, and some lovely walks around the area! The cottage is very well suited for families, providing a large number of games, books, and colouring for all ages. The beds are very comfy and the home is overall lovely and warm. It was wonderful to have a washing machine a dryer available to use! There are a few things we have to point out- the cleanliness was a bit spotty. Quite a few cobwebs were around, and there were some stains on towels and bed linen. The pressure in the family shower was very weak. The coffee that was supplied in the kitchen expired in 2023 (we didn’t dare touch the tea or sugar with no dates on), and your left with 1/4 bottle of washing up liquid, one bin bag and one dishwasher tablet to use for 7 days (with a family of 5 in our case). We had preempted this and brought our own dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and bin bags. We stay in a number of cottages as a family, and were a bit surprised that not even a small welcome pack (for example from local suppliers) of eggs, milk, or bread was supplied. Overall, you can tell a great deal of thoughtful work has been done to the property, and we would recommend to stay again.”

Thank you for comments. Garth Cottage is an excellent property which has new owners who are currently reviewing the range of welcome items to be supplied for all guests. We apologise for the absence of the full range of cleaning items and some detail cleaning on this occasion - the property owners have now clarified the expectations with their cleaner to ensure all guests are provided with sufficient basic supplies. Garth Cottage is one of those places that feels really homely and comfortable, and so handy for the lake and Bowness.

“Immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and super spacious and comfortable. So important for us especially given the weather dealt us this ‘summer’ holiday. Coming back cold and drenched from the rain to the warm Aga kitchen was so welcome. Loved cooking with the Aga, somehow everything tastes better! Would definitely want to return to this special place. Big thanks to the owners and to the lovely housekeeper (who we enjoyed meeting on our last day) for allowing us to use Garth Cottage as our home for the week. Keeping 4 teenage/young adult kids all happy isn’t easy, but they loved it too!”

“Very spacious and comfortable, with four good sized bedrooms, two lounges and a good-sized garden. The kitchen is relatively small for the size of house, but fine. It's in one of the up-market areas of Bowness; far enough out to be quiet, but only a mile or so from the centre.”

“This was a really great house for 6 of us to stay for a week to explore the Lake District. It was well equipped with 2 lounges and a good sized dining room. Fantastic views from the dining room, kitchen and master and second bedrooms. Kitchen well equipped and a lovely garden for the dogs to play in. Thoroughly recommend this property. Thanks to the owners for the lovely welcome hamper too.”

“The cottage is a comfortable hideaway or base, warm, with a real fire, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of downstairs space. The view from the kitchen and two double bedrooms towards mountains is delightful (when clouds allow!). The garden is large enough for kids to play ball games, the area is peaceful. The view from the rear sitting room has changed slightly with the addition of a new build house (not yet complete at the time of our stay). We all enjoyed our relaxing stay here. Excellent value too.”

“This is our 2nd time visiting Garth Cottage, it is a beautiful house and gives you the home from home feeling. Great location, great amenities and very relaxing too. The house itself is beautifully decorated, clean and has everything you need to hand. Will definitely return again and would recommend.”
