8 The Lake is a newly renovated top-floor apartment set within a Victorian Mansion House and gardens on the shores of Lake Windermere.

With woodland and parkland views from every window, this fully refurbished apartment, situated at the rear of the mansion house, comprises one bedroom for two adults. It is light and bright with an open plan living/kitchen and a modern bathroom making this property a great bolt hole for an adventure getaway or romantic break.

Positioned on the southeastern shore of Windermere, the Lake Cruises, Lakeside, The Aquarium of The Lakes, and The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are less than a mile away. You can sail from Lakeside to Bowness on Windermere, Brockhole and Ambleside. Hawkshead and the popular Grizedale forest are both around 10 minutes in the car.

The apartment also has shared use of the mansion’s extensive, well-tended gardens. On sunny days, head outside and soak up the views across the lawns; a perfect place for a picnic with a morning coffee, G&T or a bottle of wine or go for a dip in the Lake if you are brave enough!

“Beautifully furnished and very quiet and calm, top floor of a gorgeous old house looking onto the lake. Grounds were beautiful and peaceful but not too long a drive to get to the nearest petrol station/shop. Had everything we needed, so cozy. Unfortuntely I had a cold so spent more time inside than I'd have liked, so was especially pleased to have such a comfortable apartment to stay in. We'll definitely be back!”

“We wanted to go and see the lake but gats were closed?? So what's the use you put it down in the room that we can go and enjoy the lake. Also the sofas are really in bad condition,we just could not sit comfortably. After the whole day out and there's no proper place to sit when you are back in the evening.”

Hello Prakash, Thank you for taking the time to review 8 The Lake, a beautiful top-floor apartment featuring a log burner within a Victorian mansion house. Our listing clearly states that the apartment is located up two flights of stairs, and it does not have an elevator. I am sorry if this information was overlooked. No previous guests have mentioned that they found the corner sofa uncomfortable, but we will certainly pass your feedback on to the owner for assessment. Regarding lake access, the locked gate is intended to prevent cars from driving down to the lake. To access the lake, you need to walk down the track footpath. I hope this clarifies your concerns. “We had stayed in the building before but a different apartment so we knew its location, amenities, etc. This location is for those that want peace and quiet, away from the tourist heavy side of Windermere. With that, there are no restaurants, pubs or cafes that are walkable from the property. That didn’t bother us one bit. The property was very clean with everything you could need which was appreciated. We love this location because of the private lake access to a quieter part of the lake, with fewer water taxi’s meaning we could launch our paddle boards with ease and not worrying so much when on the water. The only thing the property could do with is a clothes horse to dry wet kit.”

“Our stay at 8 The Lake has been fantastic! The apartment is in great shape and was nicely modernised, it got all equipment we could've asked for and the sorroundings are just stunning! We've been there over New Year's Eve and also found a cheese plate and a bottle of Champagne in the Fridge at no extra cost - thank you for that! The weather wasn't as nice, which meant that we stayed in the apartment a lot more than we would have on sunnier days, but it was warm and cozy and therefore really nice!”

“Lovely apartment- cosy and well appointed. Would have been a five except we messaged to check if it had a microwave and was told it was an oven microwave combi but it had no microwave setting- not a big deal but it does make heating Xmas Pudding harder!Also a very well provisioned kitchen- except for a potato masher! In general the though lovely, warm and just what was wanted.”
