The Hen House is a modern Glamping Pod complete with underfloor heating, mains electricity and plumbed in facilities plus stunning views overlooking Underbarrow and further to Scout Scar, that has been designed with families in mind.

Added in December 2021, The Hen House is identical to the adjacent Pig Pod, which also sleeps 4. Situated within the Lake District National Park, High Gregg Hall Farm in Underbarrow is just a 15-minutes drive from Windermere and 10-minutes from Kendal. A 5-minute walk away is the popular Black Labrador Pub, which offers fantastic food and a great choice of ales.

Measuring 3300mm W x 7200mm L x 2850mm, The Hen House is similar to the smaller pods apart from the addition of fitted children's bunk beds to the rear. A fantastic option for a relaxing getaway from the busy town or city life. After a day out exploring the Lake District of walking on the fells, return to relax on the patio with a glass of wine, or perhaps a BBQ. About the Location
Underbarrow is a small village situated 3-miles west of Kendal and 6-miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can hop on board one of the Windermere Cruise Boats to Lakeside or to Ambleside. Locally you have two pubs, The Black Labrador and The Punch Bowl at Crossthwaite, both offering excellent food and a choice of Ales. If you are attending a wedding at Paddock Barn Wedding Venue in Underbarrow, then this is also a fantastic option for accommodation.

There are a number of lovely walks from the doorstep, one of the more popular is Scout Scar, which offers breathtaking views over the Lyth Valley and Morecambe Bay or alternatively, the quiet roads are fantastic for cycling into Windermere and beyond.

Couldn't of asked for more from the Hen House. Myself, husband and little boy (4) enjoyed our stay. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. The bunk beds went down well with our son. The addition of a kitchen shelf under window and WiFi would be a great addition.

We stayed at the hen house for 2 nights with our children and had a lovely time. The children loved seeing the animals walking past on the fields behind and also loved seeing the RAF planes fly past! The pod had everything you would need and the underfloor heating was great! The owners were really thoughtful and left balloons and Easter eggs for our children, as well as essentials like tea, coffee, milk, bread and juice. We did try to extend our stay for an extra night but it was fully booked on the website! We walked 5-10 mins to the black Labrador pub and drove 10 mins to Kendal and 15 mins to Windermere. Will definitely be back!

Had a great stay at the Hen House and the owners were very helpful with a request we made due to a last minute change in our circumstances. There were some nice touches on our arrival with treats and some basic essentials. The kitchenette was perfect for a short stay and fully equipped. The location was very good; it was very peaceful with just a short walk to a great pub or a short drive into Windermere. Overall I was very pleased with our stay.

Our recent glamping experience offered a delightful escape, perfectly balancing the comforts of luxury with the beauty of the outdoors. The accommodation itself was impeccably clean, a crucial factor for any traveler, and the surrounding scenery was truly breathtaking. It provided a serene and picturesque backdrop for our stay. One of the highlights was the proximity to a charming local pub, offering a taste of authentic local atmosphere. It was very nice to have that ammenity so close. Overall, this glamping destination offers a wonderful opportunity to unwind and reconnect with nature, with the added bonus of modern comforts. If you're seeking a clean, beautiful, and conveniently located getaway, this glamping site is certainly worth considering. Just be prepared for the occasional sound of overhead aircraft.
