Deer How Farm Cottage is a beautifully refurbished 4-bedroom holiday cottage situated in the centre of Patterdale, a short stroll from Glenridding, Lake Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamers. We fell in love with this property as soon as we arrived, and we're sure you will too.

The beautifully decorated holiday home is perfect for families or groups of friends, perhaps to head up onto the fells or to use as a base to explore the Lake District.

Head up the private driveway to this impressive stone building and enter the house into the large living room that comprises fab sofas, a log burning stove seated in the original fireplace, exposed wooden beams and a wooden floor, both made with elmwood. The view from the large living room windows is natural grassland with Place Fell beyond. Imagine coming in after a day on the fells to warm up next to the roaring fire!

Additionally, the first of the bedrooms on the ground floor is a double with ensuite facilities that benefit from stunning views of Place Fell. Off the other end of the living room is the utility area that leads to the enormous kitchen and dining area. The dining table is suitable for eight people to dine and a pleasant space to host while cooking a hearty meal after a long day exploring, and there is a dishwasher too. Hence, there's no need to worry about too much washing up. If you don't fancy cooking, you could always take a short walk to the White Lion Inn down the road or The Patterdale Hotel. Or even visit the local shop to stock up the kitchen fridge and freezer back home with lots of goodies!

Upstairs are three additional bedrooms, two doubles, one of which is ensuite, and a twin bedroom. All three bedrooms are light and bright thanks to the large sash windows, all benefiting from a view of Place Fell and Patterdale village. The family bathroom is modern by design with a bath with shower head attachment, loo and basin.

The property is a perfect mix of a traditional cottage with modern decor and amenities with a prevalent location with walkers as there are so many well-traversed walks right outside your door; Place Fell, the Helvellyn Range with Helvellyn and Birkhouse Moor. If walking isn't your thing, there are many more things to try nearby. How about trying out the local pubs, or if you fancy an adventure, why not try head down the road to Glenridding to try out Tall Bloke Adventures or the Sailing Center?

I am just home after spending Christmas at Deerhow Farm with my family. The house is very spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for five adults, one child and one dog. Although the weather was unkind there are plenty of walks, pubs and handy shops in the area. When we had a small problem on Christmas Day it was sorted very quickly. I would thoroughly recommend Deer How Farm and Herdwick Cottages. Carolyn Thompson

We stayed at Deer How in October; it was very quiet and the house was comfortable even for our party of 8. The decor especially the bedrooms and bathrooms are nice. The kitchen is very spacious and light. The views from the house are fantastic and we really liked being able to go for hill walks from the door. We would recommend staying here.

3 of us stayed at Deer How Farm last week. It is a lovely house with plenty of space. Good we were all able to have a bedroom each. Kitchen is great - good size and plenty of crockery and appliances. One addition we would have liked was a teapot! There is no Wi-Fi connection in the kitchen - works in lounge. As it was October we were expecting heating to come on as timed - detailed in file. This didn’t happen so we used the booster - which worked well. Herdwick Cottages and house owner agreed to this arrangement. Ullswater is a lovely lake - gorgeous views. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain - well it was October and the Lakes! This wouldn’t stop us returning some time in the future.

Fantastically located for some great walks with amazing scenery - including Helvellyn. A dog friendly property - but not dog prrof. There is open access to the main road and the small back terrace is not enclosed. So keep an eye on your pup! Beds were a bit lumpy but it's a peaceful place. An excellent kitchen. We'll equipped and big enough for the whole group.

We have just returned from a glorious week at Deer How Farm . The house was amazing and met the needs of our family of 8 adults 1 toddler and the dogs. The location was great with walks the lake, pubs, eateries and shops in walking distance . The house stayed cool in the record breaking heat . Things to make it perfect stronger Wi-Fi it does not reach the lovely family kitchen as my son had to work one day her had to sit in the lounge , a teapot & cafetière would have been nice also a grassy area in the garden for children to play on.

We are a family of parents and three grown-up sons with wives/girlfriend, and one baby; we had a week in the house in early July. The situation of the house was ideal for us - two minutes walk to the local hotel, three to the pub and less than 20 minutes walk into Glenridding. Lots of good walks from the house and from Glenridding (and boats, boat hire etc), including walk to Helvellyn from the house - no parking charges!! The downstairs bedroom with en-suite shower room was ideal for the couple with the baby (no carting all the baby gear upstairs, and easy to heat milk etc at unearthly hours without disturbing the rest of the family). The kitchen was wonderful - lots of room, a solid table that could comfortably seat eight (or more if there were more chairs), and a sofa in the corner for the non-cooks. Good wifi internet in the living room (20mbps or more), but would not penetrate the thick stone walls to the kitchen. Washing machine and dishwasher, TV, all useful. Some relatively minor issues but nothing that really detracted from a good stay. Not a lot of sitting outside space at the back, but a table with six chairs and cushions on the front (east facing) patio. No grass to lounge on, but the table and chairs were fine for us. Overall, an excellent week in an ideal location and in a house that suited us very well. We would have no hesitation in using Herdwick Cottages or Deer How again.

This was a perfect for us and we really enjoyed our stay. The space in Deer How is fantastic, great living room and the kitchen is spacious, with plenty of seating and a relaxing feel. The bedrooms were light and airy. So it made for just the right accommodation for us. Some areas for improvement- the main issue is that the beds were uncomfortable and new mattresses are needed; the WiFi does not extend to the kitchen and there is no radio reception on the radio provided; a cafetiere and tea pot to an otherwise well equipped kitchen.

Deer How Farm was a great base for a family holiday. 4 good-sized bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of space to socialise together. The house was in a great location for exploring the fells and was within walking distance from Helvellyn, Place Fell, Fairfield and many others! There were a few local places to call in for a well-earned pint. The only thing we felt was missing was a smart TV but taking a firestick with us solved this problem. Keswick was a 25-minute drive away, would recommend trying paddle boarding here and trying out some of the restaurants/ cafes!
