Formally a bank barn, Seathwaite Lodge now occupies the gable end of the traditionally-built stone building. Situated in the Duddon Valley, one of the most spectacular valleys in the Lake District, nestling in the Coniston Fells with the River Duddon flowing through it, it’s suited for walkers who wish to enjoy the many paths and bridleways over the fells to Harter Fell, Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man or perhaps simply sit out on the patio and admire the abundant birdlife or bounding lambs in the springtime. Mountain bikers have access to Walna Scar Road and Park Head Road (Secure storage is available for bikes)

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms over the lower and middle floors and the large living, dining and kitchen area that spans the whole of the top floor, this Seathwaite cottage is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for a central base from which to explore the Lake District or perhaps take to the Fells. At the end of the day, settle for a few local ales and a good meal in the 16th-century pub, literally a stone’s throw from your front door. The Newfield Inn serves a variety of local beers and ales, tea, coffee, scones and cakes as well as a full menu, including its famous steak pie. It also benefits from a large sunny beer garden and a children’s play area, with views of the Lakeland Fells.

A very enjoyable stay despite poor weather. John and Gail were very welcoming. We were up for the Duddon Fell Race and the location of the lodge suited our requirements to a tee. We're booking for next year as soon as I finish this! The Duddon is beautiful and you'll not find a better location in which to enjoy it's attraction.

Last autumn we had a wonderful stay down the beautiful Duddon Valley. This year we were treated to the most incredible weather in May and views as far as the eye could see. We set foot in all directions with a different route each day from valleys to high peaks.

The living room is upstairs so the views across the valley are great. Very good location for walking and we enjoyed discovering a beautiful, but less busy part of The Lake District.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seathwaite Lodge. The owners were very friendly and shared lots of local information. There are fantastic walks from the front door and the pub is 20ft away. The property is simple, but spacious and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again. Local amenities are limited, no shops etc which is great if you're hoping to get away from it all.

Great place to stay if walking in the Duddon Valley. Pub next door is great, good opening hours, good food including breakfast. A quiet vally with litle tourism but the payback is it takes about 25mins on quiet bendy and narrow roads to get anywhere else. All you need at the cottage and the owners are next door to sort any niggles. the pub stocks a few essentials. We left the bread for the holiday in the garage but the pub sold us some so sorted. Tesco deliver. Wifi good in the cottageand pub and even better no other signal in the valley unless you go up a hight hill. Several Wainwrights walking distance from the cottage and we got three despite the weather. The bathrooms and showers are a bit old fashioned but work fine. Would happily book again

Seathwaite is an ideal location for access to the neighbouring Fells, with public footpaths close-by in all directions. The quiet, adjacent pub provided excellent food as well as basic food essentials. The property was lovely, spread over three floors with beautiful views from the living room window. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
