Overview:
Ellie's lodge is a superb family-friendly holiday house, renovated to a high standard in 2018 to offer 12 bedrooms, a bar, and entertainment area, large open-plan kitchen and living area, hot tub, sauna, table tennis table and more.

The Country House was transformed from its former use as a hotel, to accommodate groups of friends or families for holidays or celebrations. Access to the property is from the large car parking area, shared with the adjacent garden center. The entrance hallway leads to the ground floor bedrooms, the ladies and gents loos, disabled loo, staircase and on to the first living room, bar, and entertainment area, open-plan kitchen, and second living area and lastly onto the dining area. The open-plan layout means that nobody feels cut-off from the other guests and there is oodles of space for all.

The rear private garden is ideal for warm sunny days when you can put on a BBQ and enjoy the hot tub, or arrange for caterers to come in and host for you!

All the bedrooms have been beautifully decorated with feather duvets and plush furnishings, each with a separate theme and color-pallet. The Kitchen is modern and large! Forget washing plates, there are two dishwashers for you to use. For longer stays, the utility room offers washing machines and a tumble dryer too.

If you fancy visiting Ulverston Town Centre with its many bars and restaurants, it's just a short 10-minute walk away. Other nearby attractions include the Laurel and Hardy Museum, South Lakes Safari Zoo, Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, Conishead Priory (now occupied by the Buddhist Community), Holker Hall & Gardens and Bardsea Beach. You can also drive to Lakeside and jump on the Windermere Boats to Windermere and Ambleside or buy a day ticket and include the steam Train from Haverthwaite.

Ellie's Lodge is a perfect base from which to explore the South Lake District National Park and all its wonderful attractions.

We had a marvellous reunion with old friends, the latest of an annual get together of former University friends. This was undoubtedly the best accommodation to date. The house was spacious enough to easily take our 20 party members and is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Having an en-suite for each bedroom was superb. The well equipped kitchen and dining room were great. Having the games facilities was enjoyable and a bonus. The location within a short walk of Ulverston town centre and railway station made it a ideal location. Roll on next year!

What a great place. We had very specific requirements for our family get together which consisted of 22 people and covered all ages between 1 and 95 years old. Ellies Lodge ticked all the boxes. The bedrooms are very comfortable and modern, theres a lot of thought gone into the design of the rooms. The 20-30 year olds amongst us made good use of the hot tub and sauna and also the pool table and bar area. The location is fabulous, a short walk to supermarket and only 10 mins walk into Ulverston. We do this family holiday every year and Ellies Lodge was voted the best house we've stayed in so far, so much so we're looking at booking it again for next year. Why go somewhere else when this one is perfect for us?

I booked Ellie's Lodge for a hen party of 24. The property was perfect in every way. Bedrooms were all decorated to a high standard and, along with the bathrooms, lovely and clean. There were many sociable spaces with the bar area being a particular highlight. The hot tub is a great addition to the property and was well maintained.

We had a multi-generational hen party for 20 guests at Ellie’s Lodge recently and it was absolutely fantastic! The house was stunning, even better than it looked on the photos. Bedrooms all comfortable, nicely decorated and all were en-suite, which is rare in a house this size. There was a good mix of room types (double/twin/family) and plenty of flexibility in how rooms were set up. Kitchen was well appointed, with lots of pots/pans/cutlery/crockery/glassware. Only thing missing was champagne Prosecco flutes and small tumblers, but that’s a very minor thing. We went in February so didn’t use the garden much, but the hot tub and BBQ were both good. Lots of big communal areas and plenty of space for people to have a quiet time away from the group if needed. The pub was excellent, a really good space for socialising. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for somewhere in the lakes for a large group.

We spent 3 nights at Ellie’s lodge, there were 26 of us, 12 adults and 14 children ranging from age 6-16. The bedrooms are all a good size with modern en-suites. There are 3 ‘master’ equivalents which are all very large. The kitchen is equipped with almost everything needed. There was no colander and a shortage of glassware - plenty of pint and wine glasses but no flutes, highballs or tumblers for fruit juice. There is loads of space for gathering with 2 large lounge areas and the dining table is perfect for everyone to sit together. The table tennis and pools tables were a great hit as was the sauna and hot tub. It’s ideally located close to Aldi and M&S Simply Food for any last minute items. Just a watch out if having a Tesco delivery as there is no door bell so we missed them as also didn’t have our phones on us at the time they arrived. We’ve stayed in many large houses over our 15 years of doing this and Ellie’s Lodge is at the upper end of the best, a great mix of modernity, space, entertainment options and a bar! Overall a perfect place to spend time with family and friends. We’d certainly recommend it and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Perfectly located, just a stone's throw away from a cafe, Aldi and M&S plus only a few minutes drive or roughly a 10minure walk to the rest of the shops, bars/pubs etc. The place itself is huge, there were a couple of rooms we never even got around to using because we had so much space. The bedrooms are all a great size. The dining table was a perfect size for big group meals. You may have to switch back and forth from the guest and staff WiFi depending on where you are in the building and I wouldn't recommend bringing your own kegs for the bar at the minute because the taps seem a bit loose but aside from that there were no issues. There are signs for no smoking but vapes also set of the fire alarms so definitely avoid vaping in/near the building
