Overview:
Ellie's lodge is a superb family-friendly holiday house, renovated to a high standard in 2018 to offer 12 bedrooms, a bar, and entertainment area, large open-plan kitchen and living area, hot tub, sauna, table tennis table and more.

The Country House was transformed from its former use as a hotel, to accommodate groups of friends or families for holidays or celebrations. Access to the property is from the large car parking area, shared with the adjacent garden center. The entrance hallway leads to the ground floor bedrooms, the ladies and gents loos, disabled loo, staircase and on to the first living room, bar, and entertainment area, open-plan kitchen, and second living area and lastly onto the dining area. The open-plan layout means that nobody feels cut-off from the other guests and there is oodles of space for all.

The rear private garden is ideal for warm sunny days when you can put on a BBQ and enjoy the hot tub, or arrange for caterers to come in and host for you!

All the bedrooms have been beautifully decorated with feather duvets and plush furnishings, each with a separate theme and color-pallet. The Kitchen is modern and large! Forget washing plates, there are two dishwashers for you to use. For longer stays, the utility room offers washing machines and a tumble dryer too.

If you fancy visiting Ulverston Town Centre with its many bars and restaurants, it's just a short 10-minute walk away. Other nearby attractions include the Laurel and Hardy Museum, South Lakes Safari Zoo, Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, Conishead Priory (now occupied by the Buddhist Community), Holker Hall & Gardens and Bardsea Beach. You can also drive to Lakeside and jump on the Windermere Boats to Windermere and Ambleside or buy a day ticket and include the steam Train from Haverthwaite.

Ellie's Lodge is a perfect base from which to explore the South Lake District National Park and all its wonderful attractions.

Our large group found it still big enough to get some alone time if needed. Downstairs was manual wheelchair accessible with wetroom. Spotless on arrival with many extra facilites. Great to have a big enough kitchen and dining table. We loved it.

A large and well equipped house for a gathering of old friends. All bedrooms with an en-suite and plenty of space. Kitchen well equipped. Games such as pool, darts, table tennis, sauna and hot tub all add to this being an ideal choice for us. Close to the centre of Ulverston and good walking and attractions close by.

Great house , loved the pool table, ping pong, darts /bar area. Loads of space for everyone, rooms all lovely and house very clean and well maintained. Perfect to walk into town, brilliant selection of cafes and bars. Suggest that a few more big pans/frying pans would be useful when cooking for 20 people

The variety of rooms types means there is one to suit all requirements, our family ranged from over 70 to 3 months old and we were all very comfortable . Lots of space so no feeling crowded, lovely outdoor area and the kitchen size meant multiple meals could be prepared at the same time. The proximity of food shops is a bonus too. There are a couple of walks locally but the coast at Bardsea is near and Lake Windermere a drive or train ride away. Fully recommended !

Just wanted to say how amazing Ellie's Lodge is. We are a group of 20 golfers who do an annual trip and Ellie's Lodge is the best accommodation we have ever used. It has so many plus points it is hard to list them all but, as a summary, the location is great with shops nearby and town centre only a short 10 minute walk away. The entertainment in house is plentiful with pool table, dart board, big tv's, great sound system, hot tub and sauna (both of which were well utulised to ease some of the aching limbs and muscles after the day's golf). I would 100% recommend Ellie's House for any large group as it really has anything pretty much any large group could require.

This is our second stay at Ellies Lodge, we are a family party of 20 people ages ranging from 2 to 96. It meets our varied needs. Great kitchen and dining room, perfect for our summer christmas dinner. The downstairs accessible bedroom has been well designed, although it could benefit from maybe a couple of shelves to put toiletries on and a higher mirror alongside the low one which is at wheelchair height for those people who need the handrails etc but who are not in a wheelchair, save them bending down to see in the mirror and collect toiletries from the floor. These are minor things which would make a big difference. We encountered a couple of maintenance issues during our stay but these were quickly and efficiently sorted by the lovely Peter the maintenance man, Thank you Peter. The hot tub and sauna were well used by the younger members of our party, as was the pool table and dart board. All in all , Ellies Lodge is fabulous, theres lots of things to do in the local area
