About Coffee Hit Ltd:

I started Coffee Hit in 2008, when I was always buying cool coffee gear from USA and Australia as it was not availble in the UK. I wanted great coffee for my customers and at home!
I wanted to help cafes and people make great coffee at home. I wanted to show people it didnt need to be expensive and great coffee can be fun and simple.

But if your like me you like to geek out a bit and we also have some really cool coffee brewing gear for my fellow coffee geeks.

We have the solutions for you to make great coffee at home or in the cafe.

Enjoy!

I'd only experienced the unpleasant struggle of a cheap hand grinder previously, but this is a completely different beast. It makes short work of the beans producing a consistent going and is easy to dial in. Grinding takes a fraction of the time and effort as with cheaper grinders and is something to be enjoyed. I can't recommend highly enough for those that enjoy the ritual of grinding our own beans.

I wish i just bought this then first getting a hario skerton and skerton pro. The main advantage is that it grinds much more evenly, so that pour over coffee tastes a little nicer. I think its hard to quantify how much of an improvement it gives - certainly looking at the grounds it looks much more even, but the amount of improvement in coffee taste you'll get will likely depend on your brewing method, skill, beans, etc. The second advantage (and its definitely more noticeable) is that the grinder is so well built it makes the coffee brewing experience nicer. The blades are very sharp so you need less force to grind coffee, and changing the grind setting is very pleasing. Because the coffee is ground very evenly, i've found it easier to dial in which "correct" grind size I need based on taste and draw down time. With some grinders that produce a wide distribution of grind sizes, its quite difficult to do. Some negatives. First, the grinder produces a lot of static, and so you get ground coffee stuck in it afterwards. Only very fine pieces get stuck to the grinder, so I'm not sure if its worth the effort trying to tap them into the cup, but either way you need to clean the grinder after every use (I keep a camera blower handy to quickly blow out any remaining coffee). Second, the wood finish is quite slippy to grind with. You can place your hand nearer the bottom partially on the glass to resolve this, but it doesn't feel QUITE as nice to hold that way (I wouldn't complain about this if the grinder didn't cost 200 pounds). Thirdly I'm not a fan of the plastic grinder lid on the handle, as it scratches almost straight away (similar issue with skerton pro). You can quite easily find replacement parts for this (and other bits of the grinder), so its not a deal breaker, but I hope they release something a little nicer in the future.
