I made two little jackets over thirty years ago for my children and was so pleased to see that you can still buy the little jacket kits from cloth kits. I love the bright orange design, ideal for my little grandson. The jacket is easy to cut out and put together and I am looking forward to making another one for my second grandson, I prefer the orange to the blue and I think there was another colour that I did not think was quite right for a boy. I did not make the little animals to go in the pockets as they looked disappointing when sewn up. Instead I popped a few finger puppets in. I forgot to take a photo of the orange jacket but here is a photo of the one I made over thirty years ago... it just needs the binding replacing. It was much loved by my daughter.

This was a blast from the past as I made one of these padded jackets for my daughter when she was little and now I've made one for her son. Fun to make and looks lovely on. I dropped one star as the really difficult part to sew was the binding all around the coat and round the neck, which was particularly tricky. The instruction to attach the binding was not helpful, I had to go on youtube and find a video that would show me how to do the corners. I am an experienced dressmaker but that bit was challenging.

I have loved Clothkits for years and these jackets are no exception. Easy to make and so much fun for little people. If the wadding is a little thin for you, you can just replace it with quilters' wadding. I am so glad this company is still going after buying my first kits in about 1987!!

As beautiful and imaginative a coat as I remember from 30 years ago! Just made them again now for the grandchildren who love the pocket animals.

Enjoyed making but I did find some of the instructions were aimed at the more experienced stitcher, could have been a bit fuller and clearer. Cutting out was not easy when a matching pattern would have helped especially when cutting the very springy wadding. Some of the lines quite confusing to the unpractised. I quilted the lining as I preferred that to trying to quilt around all the animals which would have been lovely. I also struggled a bit with the binding around the collar. All in all it brought back very happy memories of the 1980s jacket my children wore.
