Works well on very dry and damaged, flakey or patchy skin. This oil has a for me intolerable smell. People describe is as raw meat... I understand that reference although. I can use this on skin far from my face (and nose) as to not smell it, although i avoid using it at all as the smell makes me gag. Is effective for my skin: yes, absolutely. Was it a good buy: not so much, the smell outweighs the pros for me, unfortunately.

I developed cystic acne in my late 20s along with dry, red, blotchy and almost rash like skin around my nose, mouth and chin area. I went to the doctors and they prescribed topical antibiotics and a retinoid. This seemed to get the cystic acne more or less under control but my skin continued to be rashy and have somewhat regular breakouts. I tried various Facetheory products over the last two and a half years, such as the Vitamin C Cleanser C1, Regena C20 20% stabilised Vitamin C Serum, Regenacalm 2% Retinol S1, Cera-C Pore Reducing Toner T1, Ceraquench Renewal Cream M6, Relaxing Night Cream M10, and the Amil-C Whip M5 SPF 20. Out of this collection I have found some products I really like and have continued to use, but I never managed to fix my skin's poor texture, redness and breakouts. This winter my skin became even more sensitive and the Regena C20 20% stabilised Vitamin C Serum (the serum I had settled on) seemed to now also be causing my skin to react and become redder. I decided to forget about my breakouts and instead try some products specifically recommended for very sensitive skin - the Balancing Rosehip Oil O3 and Centasoothe Serum S5. I invested in these products 2 months ago and my skin is the best it has been in years. My skin is perfectly hydrated and more or less smooth, even toned, and breakout free. I couldn't be happier. The smell of the Centasoothe Serum S5 is somewhat challenging, and the other reviewers are right when they say it sort of smells like meat but for me it's worth it. Also, once I add the Balancing Rosehip Oil O3 and the Amil-C Whip M5 SPF 20 or Relaxing Night Cream M10 (morning and night respectively) the smell is barely perceptible. I hope this helps other people struggling to find the right routine for them.

As other customers have stated, the smell isn’t the best but it was very good at calming redness and problem areas.

Have been using this serum for about a month now and my skin definitely feels less sensitive. As others have said it does have a slightly unpleasant scent but i just make sure i’ve got a scented moisturiser ready to cover the smell!

I ordered the Centasoothe serum a couple of months ago because the winter weather and central heating was playing havoc with my skin and I developed sore, dry patches and acne and I knew I needed to change my usual skin care regime. The delivery, as always, was prompt by my first disappointment on opening the serum was the apperance. I can only describe it as bloody colostrum, very off-putting. The next disappointment was the smell. I can't identify what it is but this serum stinks, it smells like something had rotten and makes me gag. I tried to use it a couple of times but couldn't get past the smell. I raised this with Facetheory who immediately offered a refund - I can't fault the customer service. That's where this review would end if I hadn't caught covid a couple of weeks ago which has completely wiped out my sense of smell. After a week or so sruck in bed and feeling dreadful, when I started recovering my skin looked like it had aged 20 years. Seeing as I couldn't smell anything I decided to give the serum another try and if you can't smell it I have to say it is wonderful! After just two applications my skin looked brighter, smoother and fine lines were erased. I would love to keep using this but I know once my sense of smell returns I won't be able to tolerate it again. I wish Facetheory could adapt their recipe to remove the off putting scent because the serum itself is fantastic. As it currently stands I wouldn't recommend buying this product but if they change the formula give it a try.

Hi Emma, Thank you for your feedback. The distinct smell comes from the ingredients dragons blood and centella. We already looking into a reformulation that makes the smell less distinctive. Thanks Facetheory Team
