“The hotel is beautiful and the service was really very good so it was such a shame the afternoon tea was very disappointing. It all looked and tasted very basic. Half pot of clotted cream along with scones served on dull plates and crockery. Little cakes were very disappointing to look at and all very plain to eat. I will not be recommending the afternoon tea because its just such a let down especially compared to what is being offered elsewhere on the walk back through town. Everywhere else seemed to be serving beautiful afternoon teas and I felt a bit cheated..... would it really have cost much more to provide better cakes and sandwiches! I feel bad but even worse for those who had to pay full price for this! Or was this the wowcher experience you get there which really doesn't seem right!”

“Under impressed with the food. Tea was good but sandwiches lacked flavour and presentation . All served on white bread with no garnish, not even lemon with smoked salmon. All served on thick white plain china plates which looked pretty unappealing. Cakes very pretty but small and dry . Proper sized scones would have tasted better”

“The setting was really beautiful - much more grand than I was expecting. The service was brilliant and the gluten free afternoon team was very good. The service was attentive and were very much on top of whether we had full teapots. Would go back again!”

“I recently booked the Wowcher afternoon tea offer at The Clermont – Charing Cross. The booking process had a few bumps (the link provided didn’t work as expected), so I reached out to the team via email to share the codes. What followed was a lovely afternoon marked by kindness and a thoughtful gesture: a slice of chocolate cake and candle for a birthday guest, simply because I’d mentioned it in my email. The food was good, the setting elegant, and the staff accommodating, particularly with a dietary preference in our group. One quick note: sandwich refills come at an extra cost. I didn't check the pricing, so it’s something you may want to note before booking. 4 stars for warm service and a charming experience. Subtle touches, like remembering personal details, can transform a standard service into something memorable.”
