The 380L Garden Planter Water Butt in Millstone Grit is aesthetically appealing in my garden. My only observations are the instructions are not that clear for set up. Firstly, there is no lid. You cannot open this water butt as it is sealed. The instructions state to drill a hole just below the planter bottom. The position is marked on the water butt according to the instructions. It is not marked. The instructions state to insert the adapter for the hosepipe that links to the drain pipe by screwing the plastic nut from the inside of the water butt. Obviously you can’t do this as the butt is sealed. A rubber plug is provided but the instructions don’t mention this. As the water butt is sealed you may want to add a ‘gutter mate’ as you will not be able to clean the water butt out at all during its lifetime. The instructions were soaking wet in their perforated bags so I had to download from the web. A little inconvenient. I found the brass tap a nightmare to line up perfectly and gave up after the 12th attempt. It is slightly off centre and I know this will bug me given my OCD, but hey ho. Overall, I would recommend but the instructions for the diverter and water butt could be clearer.

A great looking product . Guys can you please contact me to advise how I remove the top of the water butt to install the fill pipe. I cannot see a break line! Best regards Colin Solman 07843 275074

Hi Colin, The top is not removable as it is a planter (the diverter and water butt should be supplied with the instructions) if not, please drop us an email and we can send over a PDF file for you. Kind regards, Water Butts Direct.
Very helpful customer service at Water Butts Direct. Our new water butt is just as stated on the website. Perfect fit and I particularly like the planter section on the top. We are still waiting for any rain to fill it.
