“The Vuefold French doors with sidelights are well made and arrived securely packaged. I was also impressed with the customer service team, who were very helpful when I contacted them. Installation took longer than expected, unpacking all the components alone took around three hours. My only minor criticisms are that the installation manual could be clearer (things only really made sense after speaking with customer support), and the magnetic lock can be a bit unreliable. Personally, I think a traditional lock would be a better option, and I’ll likely replace it.”

“The doors look nice from the inside of the room but from the outside the middle trim doesn’t look good. I would have preferred if the over side, the more presentable side was on the outside because that’s the side we will view them from. It looks like the doors are the wrong way round but it’s unclear when you buy them that one side is different to the other. I just chose which way the door opened. It looks wrong now. I wish this had been better explained in the website when ordering.”

Hi Eleanor, Thank you for your feedback — I’m sorry to hear you’re not fully happy with the appearance of onside of your doors. As these are internal doors, there isn’t a defined “outside” or “external” face. The doors are designed to be viewed from either side, and the final appearance will depend on the orientation they are installed and the direction they open into the adjoining space. The beaded side is intended to sit on the side of the hinges — typically the side the doors open into — which determines how the door presents from each room. We do appreciate your feedback regarding this, and we will take this on board, although generally we have received positive comments on the overall design and finish. “Having not understood that the doors would need to have their glazing installed once delivered, this has proved a nightmare and still not resolved. My fault for not reading the small print but this has soured my view of Vufold”

You’re absolutely correct that this product is supplied unglazed, and we understand how this might have caused frustration if it wasn’t clear at the time of purchase. The reason we supply the doors this way is so they can be delivered already built into the frame, which speeds up that part of the installation compared to fully flat-packed alternatives. We’re sorry to hear this has been a difficult experience for you. Many customers who have purchased the same door have successfully had them glazed and shared positive reviews. Glazing the doors is a straightforward process for an experienced joiner or a local glazing company, as it follows the same method as glazing a window or any other glazed door. If you haven’t already, we’d recommend contacting a local joiner or glazier who will be able to assist you.
