It was an AMAZING experience! Nepal was full of beautiful scenery kind people and awesome kids. I will never forget my time there and I'm honored to have met so many kind hearted people while I was in Nepal. Uma-ji was incredibly hospitable and tried very hard to cater to our needs. Her and all of her staff were wonderful and I'm very grateful to them. The noodles and momo she made us were delicious !! She also planned a wonderful and perfect trip for me to Pokhara. My experience in Nepal was great and far exceeded my expectations. Working with the children at the orphanages was great and I'm so happy I got the chance to meet such up-beat rowdy and giggly children. The older girls at Paropakar were the sweetest teenage girls I had ever met. They were kind as curious and hard working and they will always have a place in my heart. The overall experience was immensely worthwhile and I look forward to doing it again someday. The highlights of my Nepal trip were meeting the kids spending time with the girls at parobakar and getting to know them. Visiting beautiful pokhara.

I had a great time in Nepal. I had a great experience with the children at the orphanage they are lovely and always want attention. Nepal is a wonderful country there are lots of places to visit and each one of them fascinating. I was able to get to know the people and culture of Nepal. The house was clean and spacious and in a good neighborhood. The food was alright. I really enjoyed working at the orphanage with the kids. I love kids and babies and I got to to take care of both with was great. I feel it was a great experience and I'm glad I could help in a way the kids in need who unfortunately don't have a family.

I found the PreDeparture Information booklet very helpful. A section with brief facts about Nepal's history (civil war etc.) could have been added to give the volunteer a small summary of the political situation. And maybe a map of Kathmandu to roughly show where the volunteer accommodation is. But even without this the booklet contained all the important information. The service was very reliable my questions were answered quickly. I really enjoyed the project. It took a week or two to get used to the work but after that I had a routine that I could follow and prepare for. The teachers were very friendly and caring. I think my participation was appreciated by the teachers and they were happy to have an international exchange about our countries and cultures. For the students I think I did not have enough impact on their learning for them to improve. The accommodation and the food were good. The local coordinator and her family were very nice. Whenever a problem occurred they would solve it they answered all the questions we had and gave us advice for our stay. My highlight was being involved in the Tihar-celebrations and feeling the hospitality of the teachers and our host family.

I really liked the volunteers reviews section on the website. The Pre-Departure Info Booklet was useful. However I wish that I was told we had to pay our transportation to our placement. The service staff was very efficient and pretty fast to respond. I enjoyed working at my placement. However I just didn't like how every day we had to find the doctors who we are shadowing. It was quite disorganized. The experience was worthwhile . The meals were very delicious and the accommodation was well kept. The in-country support staff was also very helpful. Living with the host family volunteering at the hospital and the tours are the most exciting part of the whole trip.

I am traveling from past 11 months around the world and although Nepal was not on my bucket list in the beginning I immediately fell in love with this colorful vibrant country and its lovely people. After some trekking in the Himalayan mountains I had the great opportunity to work as a volunteer in the Paropakar Girls Orphanage in Kathmandu. Volunteering solutions helped me with the placement and made me feel very welcome from the first day on. They even arranged an orientation week for me. In this one week I was taught some basics in Nepali language - which was very helpful - and they visited the main attractions - like Durbar Square Boudhanath Stupa Monkey Tempel and the Pashupatinath temple with me. The next weeks I was able to get involved in the Paropakar Girls orphanage which houses 25 girls aged between 10 and 16. The program was a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these lovely children. Giving Love and attention to all of them and being able to assist the staff/teachers in their work fulfilled me and made me happy. Although a bit shy in the beginning the kids started trusting me very quickly and after 2 days I got hugs and kisses already. A heartwarming experience thanks to volunteering solutions ! Saying goodbye to wonderful Nepal and the lovely kids were very difficult for me hope to come back one day !!!!

The website was very organized and I like how I had my own page dedicated to my specific mission area. I like how the info packets were available online and not just through email. The Pre-Departure packet was very helpful. The only problem I had with the packing list is that it wasn't specific for the hospital I was working in. I didn't need to bring my own medical equipment and I was supposed to bring a white coat to wear but didn't. The staff was very nice and very helpful! My placement was an amazing experience. Better than I expected. I would definitely do it again and will recommend it to other medical students. Accommodations and meals were amazing. I was so comfortable and well fed the whole time. Uma the in-country coordinator was wonderful. She is such a nice and kind woman. She was so welcoming and helpful and was always there for us. The highlight of my trip was getting to round with the doctors in the hospital. They were kind to me and took me in and taught me so much. They went above and beyond in trying to make my time worthwhile.

The volunteering Solutions website is fairly easy to navigate and the pre-departure booklet made me prepare well for the program and country staff responses are also very timely. I completely enjoyed my placement. The girls in my orphanage were so lovely and sweet. I will miss them a lot. It has made me want to come back and see them. I also donated sanitary napkins and other toiletry needs of the girls to help further. The host family prepared the yummiest traditional Nepalese food. I Loved it! Some were a bit spicy but that is all pet of the experience. They accommodate well to my vegetarian diet. The coordinator emailed me when I started. This made me feel welcomed encouraged and appreciated. Being a part of the 25 girls lives and getting to know them is the highlight of my whole experience. Also the weekend trips to Pokhara and Chitwan were very nice breaks and gave me experience seeing other pets of Nepal.

The website was very easy to use. I liked the way I could see the actions that I had taken or still needed to take on the top of the page. I found the Pere-Departure booklet informative. I would suggest that a note be put in about the electrical adapter/converter needed for each country. Also the physical address for the volunteer house. Sahil was great! My questions were always answered within 24 hours in a courteous and professional manner. I loved my placement. The girls in the orphanage were sweet and welcoming. I felt my efforts get appreciated in general. But the only negative comment I would have is that the staff at the orphanage weren't very welcoming and did not give me a particular task to do. I would have loved to help in the kitchen or the garden - either helping to prepare the food or teaching the girls about sustainability through growing their own food. That being said if a person is a self-starter there was always something to do. I believe you get out of a program what you put into it. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The food was simple and delicious. My in-country coordinator was AWESOME!! Uma was very helpful and hospitable. I enjoyed talking with her and learned a lot about the culture and politics of Nepal. I cannot say enough about my Culture and Language program instructor. She was warm and patient. Great experience! The highlight of my volunteering experience was feeling useful and helpful. I was able to help the girls with their homework and we shared our cultures with each other. I live by the beach and was filled with joy to see the expressions on their faces when I showed them pictures of the ocean - the "oohs" and "ahhs" were all the thanks I needed. I saw so many beautiful and awe-inspiring things in Nepal. I took a trek to Pokhara and saw the rays of the rising sunshine on the snow covered peaks of the Annapurna mountain range. It was unbelievable! The whole trip was a great experience.
