My experience of Dehli and of volunteering on the Street children project was wonderful. The extreme heat and humidity in Dehli was challenging and also made the conditions for working with the children a challenge also but getting to know the children ( and meeting children I had worked with in a previous volunteer trip to Dehli) on the project in the short time I was there and learning from them about their culture their hopes and their dreams made it all worthwhile. I cannot praise enough the support advice and hospitality shown by Shankar and Ramesh in particular in the Volunteer house in Dehli. Both went beyond the call of duty to welcome and support volunteers and to make everyone feel secure. This was my third time staying at the volunteer house over the past five years and I must say both are great hosts. Shankar in particular seemed to be able to anticipate the needs of all the volunteers and no matter what time of day addressed and supported volunteers in adapting to the new environment. He also with great patience addressed the practicalities of adapting to a new environment that all volunteers must make such as sorting SIM cards transport and safety issues. The accommodation was very homily and secure. It was also very well maintained by the hard work of Ramesh. Ramesh also did most of the cooking and food preparation and in doing so he made sure that the volunteers experienced regular mealtimes were they could exchange stories about their daily experience of volunteering. He also kept the house and bedclothes etc. fresh and clean which was much appreciated by all the volunteers. The only criticism that I make of the accommodation was the lack of consistent wifi. For young volunteers first time away from home in particular this was a serious issue as most wanted to keep contact with their parent(s). Over the two week period is was at times impossible to successfully make a wifi connection. The experience of the project was hard work challenging but great. The rooms which the project take place have no air conditioning so physically being there for a number of hours each day in the extreme heat and humidity is at times Gruelling. However once you become absorbed working with the kids which is great then the conditions become tolerable. The highlight of my trip was meeting both the kids and other volunteers from different countries. I think the organisation should highlight more how volunteers of different nationalities learn so much from one another through living and working together on a project. This is my third time volunteering with volunteer solutions and I have made many long term friends from meeting others in the volunteer house. I have an interest in working long term in volunteer projects. I have volunteered in many countries throughout the world and in my own country so I have accumulated a wealth of experience of the needs of both host projects and volunteers.

I found Volunteering Solutions to be everything I would hope for them to be. They were helpful respectful of my age in the request for a private room for my friend and I and generally a well rounded Introduction to the wonderful culture of India. Our Co-ordinator was extremely helpful and would go out of his way to assist us in our translation of Hindi to English. He was always professional caring and Interested in how we were getting along. He was always quick to assist if we required anything also. I ended up teaching children English which I wasn't expecting to do nevertheless I found it to be extremely rewarding and loved every minute of it. Meeting and teaching the children and Student teachers which we were able to assist as well.

My overall experience on my trip to Kerala is very good. The people we met were very friendly and helpful our trips to different things in the country were amazing and the project was good. We were safe all the time and got the help we needed. I only have good memories from the trip!! Local country coordinator was very Friendly and Supportive. It was very comfortable and homely stay with all the facilities that I could have asked for.It was a really beutiful place and it was amazing to have WIFI and clean water. The food was good and wasn't too spicy. I enjoyed the project - the school for diasable people - very much. I had the feeling. that I made a difference and that we were welcomed. It was great to be a part of it just like the others who were there normally. The highlights for me on this program that we were on a trip to a fun-park in Kochi Lullu Mall. It was great fun for us and for the children!

I like everything about the website it’s complete with all the information I need. Pre -departure booklet help me to prepare my class and myself. I really love my project the kids and teachers are awesome. Accommodation and meals were excellent. Everybody in the staff team is good and kind. Being with the kids helping them are the highlights of my volunteering experience. I think I learn more from them than them from me this is the best experience I had ever have. I have also shared a detailed blog about my journey in India which was posted in two languages Spanish and English hope you enjoy reading it and share your views. I will definitely recommend this program and I am so glad I volunteered with Volunteering Solutions. See you soon! Watch my video here – The journey full of Joy

I thought it was a good balance of travel and volunteer. I liked staying in the volunteer houses it made it easy to get to know everyone interacting with volunteers from different parts of the world is fun and the meals were good. Our orientation session also rent very well that was really fun but kind of a lot to do in one day I find it a little tiring. If I have to list 5 of my best moments from the entire trip it is - 1 – Volunteer with Street Children in Delhi 2 – Painting students classrooms in primary schools in Palampur 3 – Working at the Elephant Camp 4 – Our Taj Mahal tour was great fun 5 – And also the night outs with the whole group. VolSol in-country staff were great very helpful and kind. I really enjoyed this program.

I enjoyed all the cities we stayed in very much. Maybe spread out the visits to the temples a bit more. The accommodation was really nice and clean and the hotels in the last week were amazing. Maybe a bit more variety in the meals in Palampur is a little change that can be done. The Orientation Session was informative and well set out. I really enjoyed my time on this trip whether it's volunteering with children in Delhi or working at the elephant village in Jaipur. I loved that we got the opportunity of painting the classrooms in Palampur the time I spent with the group our night outs and Taj Mahal is worth the whole trip. The Local staff were all very approachable and welcoming and were experienced and knew a lot about the cities and were always helpful. I definitely recommend this program.

I am really thankful for all the help we or our employment visa. I really liked the traditional welcome and goodbye. The kids were lovely and wanted to learn more however I expected them to be more grateful if they got something (f.e. balloons colors). The accommodation is basic but good ( I especially liked Rajiv and his wife who I respect for doing this volunteering all year round. When I needed medicines within half an hour I got them thanks to all the help I got! My favorite moments are visiting the Taj Mahal and when the kids take us into the slum to show their houses. I recommend this program as I learned so much about Indian culture and lifestyle. I think we can learn a lot about Hinduism even though we are people with a different religion we are still friendly welcomed in all the temples to join the ceremony (f.e. Iskcon). I appreciate this!

The Camp India website was good showed clear itinerary and what was included in the price. The pre-departure booklet was useful but could have included more info on the placement. I enjoyed my placement but it was pretty hard work especially the language barrier. The accommodation was good but basic a sofa would be nice. The food was very good and very nice hotels. The in-country staff was very nice and helpful and really looked after you. The highlight of my experience was meeting new friends and seeing new things. Especially liked the light and fountain show and Chokhi Dhani village person and elephants.
