Live Mealworms Reviews

There's no doubt that more bird lovers would feed live mealworms to their garden birds if only they could get over the sight of all those wriggling little creatures. The rewards of feeding live mealworms far outweigh any misgivings you may have about their wiggle, and the benefits to birds - in particular during the nesting and fledgling season - can be spectacular and can make the difference between survival or otherwise.

The live mealworms take several days to come after ordering and are often in bad condition when they arrive with thick debris and dead shells.

Great. I kept them alive for several weeks with oats and apple shavings. Very satisfying.

I seem to have ordered these at the wrong time. Perhaps a little too late as they have fledged. The smaller birds are showing negligible interest and the hot temperatures are killing the mealworms in whatever container I use. Although initially in the shade hours later they are untaken and the shade moves away.

The birds went mad for them - best bird food ever! One female blackbird even started coming into the house looking for them and now her noisy, overgrown offspring are visiting to help themselves. Another advantage is that the wood pigeons don't seem to like them so robins, sparrows and blackbirds can enjoy them in peace. The only downside is that I find the little creatures quite endearing (they love their food!) and they're beginning to feel like pets. My neighbour says I should get out more.

This is THE go-to food at nesting time. The perfect food for nestlings.
