The Viavito Onyx folding exercise bike is a convenient and practical piece of equipment that will help you get in shape and work your lower body. There are 8 levels of manually-controlled magnetic resistance and the cast iron flywheel weighs 1.2kg (2.6lbs) and is friction-free, encouraging smoother motion. This indoor cycle is strong but light and easy to fold up and store after use, making it very space-efficient and an excellent choice for use at home. The single LCD console will display a full range of live session feedback including time, speed, distance, calories, odometer and your pulse when using the hand pulse sensors. The saddle is padded and you can adjust the height to suit you, and the foot straps on the self-presenting pedals are also adjustable. I've been diagnosed with mild arthritis in my hips and need to strengthen the muscles round them. I thought an exercise bike might help, and the doctor agreed, but said it was important to have short sessions with a relatively high setting on the bike, rather than a low setting and pedalling quickly for a long session. The Onyx bike seemed to fit the bill, both feature-wise and price. Setting 4 seemed to be ideal for me, so it would seem there's a good range. Assembly was quite easy, though the provided tool wasn't fully up to the job, and an adjustable spanner was a boon. I'm about 5' 7", and the lowest seat setting is fine, but I think anyone much shorter than me may struggle. The bike folds up neatly, but being solidly built and hence pretty stable, is quite heavy, and hence wheels would make it much easier to move. One worrying point is a clicking sound which appears sometimes while pedalling. I've found I can get rid of it by turning the resistance dial up full and pedalling for a few seconds before turning it down again. I hope it's not a sign of a developing fault, but so far, so good.

I think this exercise bike is good value for money. The easy to read panel allows you to see how you are performing....heart rate, distance, calories burned etc. My only slightly negative point is that at 5ft 4in tall I do find it a little difficult to actually get on the bike but once I am on it is comfortable and easy to use.

Good value for money though difficult to mount for users with limited knee bend. A small folding step has solved the problem. Straightforward to assemble and easy to use (once mounted)

I am only 5ft and even with the seat at the lowest setting I couldn't reach the pedals. I was able to get someone to remove the seat and cut off a length of the tubing and adapt the seat so that I can reach the pedals. The frame is so high I have to use a stool to get on and off which makes me nervous about falling so for me it's not perfect but I guess this would be the case with any of the bikes not just this one as they appear all to made for taller people.
