“Having tried the bulk of the Merlin wax range, I have decided this is the on average the best featured and best looking jacket they have. I say in average because I actually prefer the look of a couple of others in the range, and there are some better features in others still, but combined... This is the best. I wanted to like the nomad jacket but the bizzare internal jacket configuration is really impractical, and lack of napoleon pocket when the liners in is also pretty annoying. The Perton has the AA rating, decent d30 armour a nice vintage style with some fairly good venting (which is only limited by the fixed waterproof lining) and great practical pockets. The fit is similar the the rest of the range. It's fairly true to size, if you were an average height with a slim build you could probably size down. I'm 6ft3 so although the medium fits my chest the arms are too short, so large is the best bet (although I'd like it a little more fitted, it still looks great). I do prefer the fit of some of the other models, the Elmhurst for example is lovely with a great fit and finish, especially in the arms and chest , but it's only A rated and has no venting. Quality is great, although I did have to return one with manufacturers defects before getting this one. I've read this elsewhere too, so I feel there may have been some bad days at the merlin factory here and there. Overall, like I said, I feel this is the best in the range for a short jacket. It may not be the absolute best looking imo (Elmhurst) , or have some of the absolutely best features (venting and armour on the nomad), but it balances out pretty evenly and that's why it's the one I'm sticking with.”

“I love the design and small details. The finishes are well made and thought of, and the jacket fits really well on the body. I wish the forearms were slightly tighter on me but I guess it might just be my body type. I am super happy with the purchase.”

“Great quality jacket, styling and fit from Merlin. Really comfortable and warm. The drop back is a great feature for a short cut jacket. I added a large D30 L2 back armour that fits perfectly. Packaged well and fast delivery.”
