“I did loads of research and watched the excellent video reviews from Andrew from Urban Rider. It seemed like I shouldn't go up a size like I often have to with bike jackets but I had no choice, as everyone had sold out of large. I almost went for a large Yoxall (virtually the same jacket) but I liked the idea of the less sticky material in the Edale. I love this jacket, it is fantastic. I feel good in it, from how it looks and feels. It's lovely and warm and cosy. I think I would have been OK with large but with the various available adjustments I'm happy with xl especially as, in really cold weather, I can easily wear a down jacket underneath. Pockets are great, there's a super waterproof inner pocket. The thermal lining feels lovely. The Merlin branding is quite understated but I wish the logo didn't look cheekily similar to Belstaff's. The material comes from the same place as Belstaff and Barbour (I had a chat with a very helpful bloke from Merlin about this). The quality of this jacket is surely second to none so Merlin could perhaps work a bit harder to find their own identity. Having said that, I do like the Belstaff type styling. But Belstaff jackets can't be any better than this in terms of quality or functionality. I'm not sure from research if Belstaff actually produce a jacket as warm as the Edale. So I'm delighted with the jacket. Service from Urban Rider was excellent, delivery quicker than promised, payment in 3 instalments was useful. If you're after a 4 seasons wax jacket, I'd say buy this one, even if you can afford twice the price for a Belstaff.”

“Beautiful jacket. Space for a D30 level 1 or 2 in the back (which is barely noticeable when wearing). Inner lining can be fiddly to remove but not overly difficult.”

“Truly perfect jacket, not to long, not to short, perfectly crafted and full of details. I normally take a M but the S fits me perfect, well done Merlin & Urban Rider.”

“Excellent jacket! Great fit especially if you have bigger shoulders where some jackets can be tight. Great adjustability, versatile and warm. Not too heavy for a bike jacket and very comfortable on and off the bike.”
