“After taking off the massive amounts of wrapping, the shelves look really good. Sadly the courier had obviously dropped them so the corners were damaged by this was remedied quickly by customer services. Not too difficult to place the brackets into the brick walls I have but you do need to measure v v carefully to get a good fit and make sure your drill doesn’t 'drift' when you drill the holes (particularly an issue when drilling through plastered brick) Also to note, the bracket is in two parts which can be unscrewed. So if you want to remove the bracket from the wall, it will be v difficult as you simply end up unscrewing the end part leaving the screw section in the wall. Personally I would also drill the holes into the wall ‘downwards’ (so the brackets point upwards slightly once inserted) rather than at 90 degrees to the wall. I found that once the shelves are loaded, mine seem to be hanging downwards slightly and are no longer at right angles to the wall. It’s ok but not a great look. Am tempted to take them down and do it again but that’s a lot of work!”

Hi Tim, thank you for your review. We are happy to hear your solid oak floating shelves look really good. Sorry to hear your order was damaged during transit but we are glad our customer service team managed to rectify this issue for you promptly. The fixings have a cam mechanism that allows you to level them using a spanner, you should be able to resolve this by tightening the metal rod into the plate. This forces the plate to lift the rod which should get it level. Thank for shopping with Traditional Beams!

“We’ve had the classic oak mantel installed for a few months now and we love it. We paired it with floating oak shelves in the same colour. Communication through the delivery process was clear. The mantel and shelves are very sturdy, the fittings are good quality. We had someone install them for us as I reckon they do require a very strong drill (for a brick wall in our case) and a good degree of precision. If you are handy with an SDS drill and a spirit level I’m sure you could manage yourself. They look great from afar and up close. We like them so much we are going to order another shelf instead of having a sofa side table.”
