Excellent hedge trimmer, perfect for attacking my 9 foot high leylandii hedge. Surprised at how long my 4.0ah batteries last. A great replacement for my Petrol trimmer; quieter, lighter and less smelly!!

As with all DeWalt, you get very much what you pay for. It's a sturdy, well-built unit. It is NOT an extending unit. For storage it can be easily taken apart by means of a thick and strong threaded collar. Some good safety features to prevent accidental powering on. Now the not so good. This is a heavy unit. DeWalt supply a shoulder strap, and for any prolonged use, you'll be glad of it. The fact it doesn't telescope means you'll still need to climb a ladder. And being 18v, don't expect bough munching capability. It just isn't there. In fact, if you use it for trimming the tops of your hedges, it is perfect. It is perfect for new thin young shoots. But for established twigs, etc, it's back to good old fashioned petrol powered. Yes, it is rather expensive. However, AW ToolStore were very competitive. Anyway, this is an excellent supplementary tool, I personally wouldn't recommend as a primary tool, unless you have a new young hedge. But to be fair, it is well-built, usual DeWalt quality and another tool for the XR batteries.

A good length and ideal for trimming but not very good on branches the size of my little finger but is still good value.
