“I bought this along with a "Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5" which was easy to fit and performs very well. A definite upgrade to my "Home Assistant Green" which was starting to run out of steam as my "Home Assistant" instance has grown since I first started using it.”
“Home Assistant Yellow Kit with PoE — Powerful, Compact, and Worth It
The setup was easy overall, and I’m really pleased with the result. The CM5 instructions, particularly around heat sink installation, could be clearer — I’d suggest PiHut consider adding a link to their own guide or working with the Home Assistant team to update the wiki. That said, I got there in the end.
If you’re a newbie like me, installing the OS might look daunting because of all the jargon — but honestly, just download the Windows installer and it’s done in no time. (Tip: if you can’t see the Pi from your PC, check that the jumper on the board is correctly set!)
I went for the latest CM5 board with the CM5 heat sink and it fitted perfectly. Super happy with the purchase — it’s a powerful, compact bit of kit that makes a great smart home hub.”
“This is a great bit of kit to start building a Home Assistant setup. The integrated Zigbee makes it easy to start adding door sensors, switches and the like from a wide range of suppliers.”
“Great packaging, nice and recyclable. Nice construction, tool less case, no issues mounting compute module, massive upgrade spec wise to my pi4, recommended”
