“Nice piece of kit. It certainly makes for tidier cabling, having all the ports on one plane. No cases available to house this and my Seeed dual NVME board together, so I guess I'll have to fire up Blender and my 3D printer. With a week off work next week, though, I'm not even going to pretend that's a hardship.”
“I like the Raspberry Pi a lot, but the micro-HDMI ports are among its worst features. At best, they force you to add to your collection of cables, and at worst they're more prone to failure.
I like to fit my Pis into custom-built cases and it's really hard to make an elegant case when there are cables coming out here, there and everywhere. Priced at just £5.90, the Multifunctional Adapter re-routes the power and monitor ports, while upgrading the two HDMIs to full size. With virtually everything plugging in from one side, there are countless new possibilities for mounting in a case, perhaps behind a monitor. There's also a 5V input connector that might be used for an internal power supply.
The adapter sits a bit higher than the main board of the Pi: fit it on standoffs that are 2mm higher, such as 10mm and 12mm respectively - or add some kind of 'step' in the case you're building. Suitably supported, the unit feels very solid and looks much more elegant than the usual Pi desktop spaghetti. Projects such as mini rack mounts or mounting in old optical drive bays begin to suggest themselves. I think I'll always get one of these for any future Pi 5 project.”
“Ridiculously good price for what you get. Works right out of the box and has everything you need and more included in the package.
SO NICE to have full-size HDMI ports on the RPI 5, the Mini HDMIs are the only thing lacking from the design and this addon completely makes up for it”
