“It's a bit clunky, it's a bit overly complicated but it does come together nicely. You need to press down hard to seat the board past the rear clip which will make you nervous. Then it screws in easily. It's a workable case for desk or pocket carry with sensible care and it works as an all in one solution. It's simple but a little bit of pressure is needed to seat the pi. It won't come apart once built so remember that”
“Good value little screen. Purchased to support creation of Bjorn which has let me amused for a few hours. Screen clear enough to get a meaningful amount of data shown.”
“Neat case; I've had no problem disassembling and reassembling it a couple of times, but I haven't removed the backing from the adhesive gasket on the display - I think it would be trickier if the display was glued in. Display works as advertised, but documentation from Waveshare is thin - you effectively have to reverse-engineer the API from the code they provide. I've not tested the touchscreen as not needed for my application.”
“It's always difficult to know what to think where there are two reviews of something - one which is one star and one which is five ... So, in an attempt to break the stalemate and try and inform your choice if this is for you or not.
Some of the criticism in the one star review is fair - no, the links aren't up-to-date and it takes a little bit of effort to get things up and running - a little knowledge, a little experimentation and a little searching however led to successfully getting everything installed and the demo up and running perfectly. Similarly, the case does seem to be a pretty much one way installation - but this is down to a very small case, headers being inserted into the screen and so on - I doubt that it's a non-damaging removal of the Pi Zero from the case if you're going to try for it. I think that this is a valid design decision though, as to make it an easy removal etc. would require a much larger case, and this is very, very compact.
The quality of the screen is excellent, the case does what it is supposed to, assembly is easy and presented no issues, this is a site for makers & thus I don't mind a little effort to make things work.
Now I need to get my project up and running, and _that's_ the hard part !”
“After finding the correct library/drivers a great product! The support from Waveshare was great.
Soon as we get hold of additional RPi Zero’s we’ll buy more.”
