I have been using this lens for my hq camera module for my telescope project and I cannot speak much regarding lenses as im new to photography in general. But from my little tinkering, this lens should be good enough for high illuminated objects like the moon so its good enough for my current needs. Its very versatile with its magnification, and I would recommend it if you need something adaptable. Only realy con is the weight but its only expected for such a thing.

For the money, this is an excellent lens. A great zoom range, making it very versatile, with controls that are easy enough to use, although precise focusing takes a little while to get right. The images are a little soft, and there's some vignetting at the long end of the zoom range, but given the cost those a minor issues. Overall, I'm very happy.

Gets the job done. Zoom range is great and the manual controls are fairly easy to use. I had to adjust the back focus a bit to be able to focus across the whole zoom range. The images are a bit soft at full stretch and there were a couple of specs of dust on the insides of the lenses. But for the price, it's a pretty good lens.

Covers the most useful focal length range and offers reasonable optical quality but don't expect it to rival premium mirrorless or SLR lenses - but then it only costs a small fraction of their price. The zoom, focus and aperture controls are very sensitive and easily inadvertently moved. Unlike a conventional stills camera lens the focus has to be readjusted each time the lens is zoomed. Overall, however, a useful lens for the Pi HQ Camera.

A very nice lens that I bought to get closer to the bird table (previously using a 36mm lens). Initially had a problem fousing over the full zoom range. I could _not_ get the back focus ring on the HQ camera body to budge and I was afraid to use too much 'brute force and ignorance'. Applying a little less ignorance and a bit more force (c/o https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=272917#p1656585) it did eventually move - the thread now moves smoothly but with a thick-oil/gummy feel. Maybe warming it slightly might have reduced my struggles (no blowlamps please!) Anyway I am very happy with the new lens to add to my collection, at a reasonable price, good build quality and v. rapid shipping - thanks.
