“The PoE works great. Fan is nearly silent, the quietest I’ve seen/ not heard.
The switch for the fan is great, and can be overridden by software which is nice.
The OLED screen is brilliant for displaying. I got it to fit 3 lines of size 13( I think) font quite well!
It’s a brilliant product however finding cases for it are a bit difficulty, so I’m creating an STL for it.

“Pretty much plug and play. The screen is a nice touch and I like the sample script showing temp and IP. I run the script at startup and had to introduce a delay for DHCP to gather its thoughts. Temp at which fan kicks in is configurable in the script too.”
“Great product. Not much difference in cost from the basic PoE HATs out there, but with the addition of a screen and software controlled fan control is a great plus.
The default example code provided by Waveshare provides a good starting point and framework to build out screen and fan functionality. The fan is near silent in the average home environment. I'd have to place my ear near to the HAT to even hear it.
I am running this HAT on couple of my pi's (Pi4 and Pi3B+) and have had no issues at all.
I would add that there is a slight issue with the example C code provided by Waveshare that appears to invert the fan activation, i.e. the fan is on when the pi is running cool, but turns off when it hits the upper temperature threshold. Took a bit digging around the code to invert the incorrect fan on/off setting. However, if you are not using the example code then it's a non-issue. There is also a switch to bypass software fan control and just have it on permanently.”
“Works great, can use a RPi with only one cable now. The screen is great showing you the IP address of it if it's not static making it easy to SSH into it.
Using the example code that came with it and having it start on boot makes the display show random white dots from which it doesn't recover. I had unplug power then plug it back in. I've not tried to debug the code but putting a pause on the script of 30sec on start makes it work fine.”
