“A nice little bit of kit for hobbyists, but not a ready-to-go cooling solution. Well-made and very flexible, with plenty of options for expansion. I love the combination of fan with OLED display in one neat HAT. Don't pay too much heed to reports that the fan is loud - it's actually really quiet so long as you change the PWM frequency to 80Hz from the default 50Hz (as others have suggested).
Deducting a star for the awful software that comes with this. The software is provided as 'sample code', but is even dreadful in that capacity, and certainly unusable as an actual solution. This means that you should not buy this as a ready-to-go solution: you will need to write your own controller.”
“Better than the Raspberry Pi 4 case fan
Had to change PWM frequency to 80 to make it quieter, but apart from that it’s a amazing fan and keep my overclocked at 2GHz Raspberry pi 4 at 60C under 100% CPU load
Edit: The bearing can fail after long periods of use”
“Just a heads up -- this thing is loud! Otherwise, it's working as expected and it was fun to program. I like that it exposes a full-length GPIO header so that I can use additional HATs if I want to in the future. Thanks!”
“Great Fan HAT, a little trouble with scripts but fixed in the end. You have to make sure all of the scripts from the wiki are copied exactly and you may need to brush up on a few linux command for the boot up.
Cooling was significant and overall impressed for such a cheap HAT”
