“This is a really nice piece of kit. the on-board mics are good and multiple options for sound output useful. It also uses very few pins and so will be compatable with other HATs once you figuire out the pinout. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that support for this board from Waveshare and elsewhere in terms of user manuals and code examples is extremely limited and can be challenging (such as telling users to use Vim to edit .conf files, hardly the easiest option). Also, the overlay for this device was only added to the Raspberry Pi firmware in January 2021, so many struggled before this to make it work.”
“Excellent sounding card for the Raspberry Pi at a reasonable price. The speakers are ideal for use in projects but do not do the card justice from an audio perspective. Use the other outputs in to an amp or powered speakers to fully appreciate. Setup within Linux is simple enough with the provided instructions. Pass through GPIO pins are great if you have a fan setup although I have not tried stacking another HAT. Fully satisfied with mine.”
