“Feels a little pricey for what it is, but is nice and solid and works well. Holds the Pi and two SSDs nice and securely.
I discovered that if I turn around the mounting bracket (to the opposite direction from shown in the picture), there is enough space behind it on the bottom plate to put the USB hub that I am using to power the Pi and the SSDs. Makes everything even more compact than I had initially thought, so very happy.”
“The basic design is good if you want something flexible and robust. However the execution leaves a lot to be desired and could do with some improvement. As supplied the Pi mounting holes didn't 100% line up with those on my Pi4B and the frame required a bit of judicious bending with pliers to get everything aligned. Some of the powder-coating had spread into the threads of the Pi mounts, and needed a bit of freeing-up with the supplied screws. Worst aspect to my mind is that the Pi mounting points are short and "blind" tapped, so the screw length is really limited and the threads on any male standoffs need trimming to a fairly short length to fit. This leaves a major risk, coupled to the gummed-up thread issue above, and especially if using additional nylon standoffs for HATs, of shearing the male end of the standoff inside the mount leaving the whole thing useless. It would be far better if the Pi mounts were supplied as male-threaded standoffs making the addition of HATs, fans etc. far easier. I can see that this may also require through-drilled standoff bushes and longer screws for the adjacent SSD, but overall far better? Mine's now assembled and working well, but with a bit more thought could be easily improved.”
