“Purchased for my Pi5 along with the Pi M.2 SSD to fit inside the offical Pi case. Easy to install and set up. Copied over the system from a USB drive with no problems. Set up the boot order and was all working in no time.”
“This component does the job very competently, but with it installed the cover for the Pi5 case can't be clicked into place so subsequently falls off every time the device is moved.”
“I had my doubts, but this hat fits inside the official Pi5 case and around the integrated fan cooler. It is easy to fit by following the instructions and works very well. It was rather a bodge to refit the backup battery,, but it can be done. The Raspberry Pi SSD is fast and well-priced, so don't waste time looking for cheap alternatives.
There are some gotchas.
The GPIO headers are unavailable as ' hi-risers' cannot be fitted inside the case with this hat. To play with the GPIO, remove the hat and insert an SD card to boot the Pi5.
It's not possible to fit a sound card, obviously. Use a cheap USB sound interface. They are very good quality sound.
My other Pi5 is in an Argon case which solves all the above problems, but at a much higher price.
This is good value and a neat and effective way to run a Pi5 off an M.2 SSD.”
