Used this one for a faster Nextcloud data drive. Three partitions boot, root and data.

Stand offs/spacers do not allow it to fit inside the NVMe case without shortening them.

Blindingly fast and loads of storage now with this kit. However three problems with the install:- 1. The box I bought along with the Pi 5 not that long ago is too small and not designed for this. 2. It took a while to persaude the Pi to 'see' the new disk 3. It took even longer to work out how to get 'Permission' to load files into the new SSD. Maybe I missed it somewhere but the step by step giude I was using simply didn't cover these 'showstoppers'. Bought a 'twice the size' new box at £17 plus P&P.

Installed this on my Pi 5 and it was recognised immediately. I now have everything entirely running from this SSD and removed the SD card completely. The performance increase is really noticable.

Fast 512GB SSD that makes your Pi 5 boot lightning quick - way better than those slow SD cards.

It works and makes loads times significantly faster however the board does restrict airflow and doesn't fit stock cases but that is in part an issue with the 'hat' architecture rather than the product itself though a redesign might be able to improve airflow a bit.

This official SSD kit transforms your Pi 5 experience. It enables you to unlock outstanding performance for I/O intensive applications on Raspberry Pi 5, including super-fast startup when booting from SSD Be Careful with the Pi 5 Case and Active Cooler. The 512GB capacity provides ample storage while offering minimum 4KB random read and write performance of 40k IOPS and 70k IOPS respectively. Installation is straightforward - the kit comes pre-assembled with the M.2 HAT+. Boot times are dramatically faster than microSD cards, and application loading feels snappy. Essential upgrade for serious Pi 5 users.
