I've been using the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 for a little while now, and I must say, it’s a remarkable leap forward from the original Pico. As someone who has tinkered with various microcontrollers and single-board computers, I was particularly excited to see what improvements the Pico 2 would bring, and it hasn’t disappointed. Performance Boost and Enhanced Features The first thing I noticed was the significant performance boost. The upgraded RP2040 microcontroller delivers faster processing power, which is evident in more complex projects. Whether you’re running more intensive tasks or handling multiple peripherals, the Pico 2 seems to manage it all effortlessly. The additional RAM and enhanced I/O options have also opened up new possibilities for my projects. The increased GPIO pins and added support for more interfaces make it easier to connect a wider variety of sensors and components, allowing for more creative and complex builds. User-Friendly Design One of the aspects I appreciate the most is how user-friendly the Pico 2 remains, despite the new features. The form factor is identical to the original Pico, meaning it fits perfectly into all my existing projects without needing any adjustments. The familiar layout also makes it easy to transition from the original Pico, so there’s no steep learning curve to worry about. The documentation and community support for the Pico 2 are excellent, as always. The Raspberry Pi community never fails to deliver when it comes to tutorials, sample codes, and troubleshooting tips. It’s been a breeze getting up and running with the new features. Excitement for the W Version While the Pico 2 is already a fantastic piece of hardware, I can’t help but look forward to the upcoming W version. The prospect of built-in wireless connectivity is incredibly exciting. It will make the Pico an even more versatile tool, especially for IoT projects where wireless communication is a must. If the W version can maintain the same balance of power, simplicity, and affordability while adding wireless capabilities, it could easily become the go-to choice for many hobbyists and professionals alike. Final Thoughts Overall, the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 is a superb upgrade from the original. It’s powerful, versatile, and still retains the simplicity that makes the Pico series so popular. If you’re on the fence about upgrading, I’d say go for it—you won’t be disappointed. And with the W version on the horizon, the future looks even brighter for Raspberry Pi enthusiasts. Highly recommended!

It is soooo good to have lots of memory and more speed on this device - I ran out on the pico 1 with a project I was working on. As soon as the WiFi enabled version is available I'll be ordering some.
