I've been thoroughly impressed with the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 Standard. This little camera packs a serious punch, capturing stunning 12.3MP photos and silky smooth 4K video at 60fps. The image quality, especially in low light, is simply outstanding for the price point. Setting it up was a breeze, and it integrated seamlessly with my Raspberry Pi projects. Whether for photography, videography, or machine learning applications, this camera module is an absolute gem. Highly recommended for any Pi enthusiast looking to elevate their imaging game.

High quality camera, image resolution is excellent - significantly exceeds my laptop camera and probably as good quality an image as latest iPhone camera. Was a bit complex to figure how to use with python, and does require latest Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm). Excellent for use with robotics projects, as footage can be streamed via python - I used it for a robotic car remote operation camera feed. This link is to a code resource excellent for streaming the camera feed via python (fast and with no latency): https://github.com/raspberrypi/picamera2/blob/main/examples/mjpeg_server.py

Fantastic camera. Using it in my pigrow garden automation time-lapse grow box taking regular pictures of moss and lycan slowly growing. 3d printed a case with a glass cover to protect it from water, very easy to design for with all the info on sizes and positions supplied - I'll post my case to thingiverse and already lots of useful ones on there. The sutofocus is really good, very easy to control in python and have been able to get really clear macro images and regular pictures. If you're new to picams then start with this one as focusing the old v1 and v2 with the plastic cone is tedious and this has great quality. I'll show the timelapse on my robogromo YouTube once I've finished coding and installing it.

so far I haven't been able to get it to work with Ubuntu 23.10/23.04. I had other issues with pre-release version of 24.04. Hoping things this work better with the final 24.04 version. In the worst case I may have to use the debian os for the pi 5 and this camera module. Hoping it works with the final ubuntu 24.04 when it releases later this week. I assume I will eventually get this to work when I figure out the proper drivers, configuration etc...
