“AVOID....no sound chip, Poor documentation, about the only positive thing to say it was easy to set-up tho you're probably need a sound chip card which are nightmares because they don't appear to work properly and setting the Pi to the right sound card is a nightmare, what a shame PiHut doesn't tell you this when you order. Also no details/ information sheets when any subsequent packages arrive. No telephone number to call in case of inquiry just support tickets which are useless if you need tech info....AVOID”
“The hardware is fabulous. The enclosed book is well written and great for those new to computing. When I first started up all went well until I was told updates were needed - these failed. An hour on the internet eventually fixed it (it was a genuine problem - not just me). This machine is targeted at kids; I'm a software engineer and had to use my developer's experience to get it sorted. It seems a small thing; but it really should work out of the box.
If I'm being picky, I'd like a longer power-lead, the one supplied barely reaches to the floor from the desk, also - perhaps a power switch on the cable would save me pulling the cable from the box - the cable falling behind the desk - having for grovel on the floor to retrieve it.
I'm developing an imbedded Python system that presents a rolling public screen, the Pi 5 is perfect for this type of application and I'm very impressed with the quality of the OS.
Very impressed with the ThePiHut's delivery.”
“Great way to get started, packed with everything you need including the keyboard and mouse. Awesome gift idea too. This one had the Pi 5 with 8gb RAM, snappy compared to recent boards and said keyboard and mouse are well made. All is cheap to replace if needed.
This took me back using the Risc OS Pi distro :)”
