“I am afraid that I was very disappointed with the raspberry pi 5. My pi 400 runs happily on a power bank running from an nvme drive in an external usb caddy, plugged into the power bank using a usbc cable (not using the standard PSU). Although I can't be specific, the pi 5 is much more power hungry and it is impossible to run it with my existing setup. I tried numberous adjustments to reduce the power usage - running the system from an sd card instead, turning of wifi and bluetooth and using ethernet - nothing worked. I feel that the pi 5 has been over developed and over designed. The pi 400 is powerful enough as a daily driver for light work but, also has really low power requirements. I have gone back to using my pi 400. I have my short time using the pi 5 marked down as a failed test and a wate of time / money. I know most other reviews are much more complimentary than this one but, it is my opinion.”
“Great bit of kit. Using it to monitor internet speeds.
Only issue was getting the Ethernet working.
I could not work out on the Debian OS, switched to the Ubuntu version and used netplan.
A guide on how to do setup wired network would be good. Wireless worked straight away.”
“Extremely quick delivery, packaged securely. And I'm sure I can't add much to what has already been written about the Pi 5 - much faster than a 4, good enough to be a desktop replacement, and loads of extras to extend the uses. Everyone should have one.”
