“Perfect solution for what it is. My RPi is running piCorePlayer for multi-room etc audio and this is perfect. It means the RPi and amp along with a couple of JBL Control One speakers fit on top of the kitchen cabinets and are out of the way. Sound quality is great and ample power for a small room like a kitchen. Recommended.”
“The DigiAMP+ is installed to an RPi3B+ and sounds fantastic through a fairly old pair of speakers I am using.
The DigiAMP+ was set to be muted at boot time by default. This was easily altered by editing:
/boot/firmware/config.txt
and commenting out one line:
#dtparam=audio=on”

“Very simple in terms of integration - effectively plug-and-play. Be sure to purchase a GPIO Riser Header if you have a heat sink installed.
The primary pain point with this DigiAMP+ has been the power reliability. Even with the recommended Power Supply for Raspberry Pi DigiAMP+ (19V 3.4A 65W) (SKU: MMP-0204), my Pi occasionally "browns-out" with a "red LED of death" which is only recoverable by manual intervention (pressing power button or power cycling the input). Per the DigiAMP+ integration instructions, you should NOT power the Pi independently and should let the hat manage it - so the fact that it doesn't reliably power the Pi is a bummer.
