I’ve been using the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W as the edge “brain” for my Zmeura-TransitIQ telematics prototype, and it has exceeded all expectations. Even when powering it from a 20 000 mAh USB bank, the little board kept humming along—when I checked on day two, it was still up and running without a hitch.
Its combination of quad-core performance and tiny footprint made it perfect for ingesting GPS data, running my Rust-based processing agents, and forwarding telemetry to AWS IoT Core. Despite continuous data collection and network connectivity, CPU usage stayed remarkably low and power draw was minimal.
Setup was a breeze thanks to The Pi Hut’s prompt shipping and clean packaging—my unit arrived with headers already soldered, so I could get straight to testing. The wireless range was rock-solid even in a moving vehicle, and GPIO access let me hook up a backup battery-level monitor with no fuss.
Adding a GPIO-driven display for live status updates wasn’t exactly plug-and-play—it took a bit of extra configuration—but when you’re building a bespoke project like mine, a little tinkering is to be expected.
All in all, the Pi Zero 2 W is the ideal companion for cloud-connected, battery-powered IoT projects. Highly recommended for anyone building lightweight, resilient telemetry nodes!”
“I bought two of P02W recently. The intent is to upgrade my two GamePi20 add-ons and use Retropie 4.7 image to run game emulator, however I havent got my GPi20s to work on 100% at this time. Having a sound issue with add-on at the moment so I am back to following the guide to get it running 100%. I couldnt use a P0 full length heatsink with P02W and the add-on because it wouldnt fit into GPi20 case :( . On the otherhand no issue with P02W as emulationstation for desktop.”
“Keeps surprising me everything, the power it is capable of and the durability of the board.
I bought one in 2021 and decided to solder the headers myself, but messed it up, though thr pi heats up a bit, it still performs well till dates”
“Using as a Picore player with the audio SHIM. Works well and despite what the advice says, it works well as the LMS as well even with only 500M RAM. The music library is about 15Gb.”
“This is a great development of the well known Raspberry Pi zero. It formed part of an mmdvm hotspot for amateur radio and is in constant use. Very fast boot up and updating. Excellent product. Many thanks to the staff of the Pi Hut for excellent service.”
“Terrible customer service.
Ordered 15th March but did not recieve a working (i am assuming as I haven't tried it yet) until 5th April. Original Pi was faulty and was sent back almost immediately but it took a further 2 weeks for a replacement - not expedited and after a week I chased as I hadn't recieved it and PI hut admitted they delayed the resend. Surely after the 1st screw up you'd made sure the replacement is ultra-smooth? I had to chase them rather than reaching out to apologise. Poor service.
Not recommended and I regret not purchasing from a more realible seller.”
