“It's got tiny sticks that fit perfectly in some holes we have in the wall. The other end, long and skinny, fits into the Raspberry Pi and when you connect both ends the Raspberry Pi starts blinking and stuff happens. If this is what you want, I highly recommend this magical product.”
“I bought a 4 GB model Pi 4 to complement my existing Pi collection and to (hopefully) use as a NAS server. It has not disappointed. In summary, the Pi 4 has achieved over 100 megabytes/sec in read mode as a NAS, and over 65 megabytes/s for writing. An astonishing speed, and enough to saturate a gigabit network (when reading). The Pi 4 is liklely to be much faster than other Pis for other purposes too, eg. running Nextcloud/Owncloud, FreeNAS or other apps requiring quite a lot of CPU grunt.
NOTE: the only snag so far is the high running temperature. The Pi 4 runs at about 55 - 60 C when idle, and up to 74 C was recorded during the above tests. Compare that with a busy Pi 2 (eg. the one that hosts the above web site) running at about 41 C.”
