We also bought her the robotics kit and she has had great fun making a simple robot first and is now looking at ways to develop it further. “I mounted this at the corner of a large breadboard, and added breakout wires for the GPIO pins. This setup works very well. Surprisingly, the computer itself is usable as a Linux desktop, provided that only a few big applications are installed. It's plugged into my router, so I can sftp files to and from it using my main Linux computer: very convenient.”
