“Order was taking a bit longer than expected, so contacted support.
Support where great, the order arrived within the maximum time frame (Brexit has made delivery times incredibly unpredictable, so not their fault).
Product is exactly what I ordered and was well packaged. Will be ordering from again!”
“Works very well with a Pi Zero W, using an old version of ArchLinux via soundtent.org. Haven't tried with a recent PiOS yet. I was getting some clicky interference, apparently from WiFi, when using the on-board MEMS mic and so switched to external. (Maybe the shielding on the Zero 2W solves this?) The documentation is unfortunately very poor, and doesn't even mention that the 3.5mm input socket can provide plug-in power and will take two external mics — perhaps the description here could be updated to reflect this?”
“It works horribly with newer rpiOS versions, since this is the original IQaudiO version, and RPi made a lot of changes to the new board version. With old rpiOS and works with no issues at all. Completely unreliable behavior with new OS versions. Sometimes difficult (or impossible) to make it work with some specific OS forks. Sometimes works for a while and then it just stop all of the sudden. On certain ocassions I was just not able to make it work again, after it has stopped working, untill I completely reinstalled everything.”
“I bought the codec zero last week and I have to say it is a really neat product. The lack of up to date documentation and configuration guidance is the only issue I have had really. The extensive feature set makes the Codec Zero a challenge to set up and some prior experience with Alsa configuration is beneficial to say the least. Many hours of googling were needed to find all the 'magic runes' to get my simple squawk box project running the way I wanted.
PiHut are mostly excellent with orders delivered quickly, accurately and well packaged. I would really like to see some links to documentation and git hub pages included in the product descriptions - Similar to the data-sheet links that accompany just about every online electronic component catalogue.”
“I will start off by saying PiHut’s delivery and customer service have been stellar, however the actual product is incredibly poor. I am very technically inclined and I spent 3 days debugging 2x of my ordered boards with different Raspberry Pis and it simply doesn’t work with the latest Raspberry Pi OS. The product page here is out of date because it’s since had a rebrand. Overall I am frustrated by this product and have returned. Full points for the customer care though, thank you Pi Hut but perhaps update the product page or decide to not sell this in future?”
“The description for this product is comically incorrect. The product itself is fine.
I've notified PiHut of the description issues but they still list it as "2x mono external Electret microphones" and "Supports additional (no fit) Mono Electret microphone (Mic1 right)" IT DOES NOT!
This product has a built-in MEMS microphone and one 3.5mm Stereo Jack that provides dc bias for an electret microphones.”
