“Have a Pi 3 for various projects.
Decided to see if this version was a realistic possibility to replace a traditional desktop PC, given AAA titles for gaming don't feature in my down time.
It is currently serving that duty, RTL-SDR monitoring of aircraft, NAS via openmediavault and retropie for emulation.
If performance/even mild OCing is important, I DEFINITELY recommend a good case (flirc) or fan.
Don't make the same mistake i did with micro HDMI sockets, I thought I had adapters ready to use, but they were mini, not micro.
Consider having at least one share micro SD card... Once the basics are in place with software and config, clone the card in use to your spare one. If tweaking leads to non booting, you have an option if you just need to get online quickly.
Happy with the purchase, would (and will) recommend to others.”
“Bought for my son (Physics PhD student) as a Christmas present - everything he wanted to add to the two other Pi's he has. He is delighted with it and what he is able to do with it.”
“Was bought as a Christmas present for my beloved Son
He is now happily using his pi and it seems to be exactly as he expected
So yes, I love Raspberry Pi!”
“Fantastic upgrade from the older 3b, both in performance and functionality.
Dial hdmi outputs a nice touch too, but i have concerns over the micro hdmi ports lasting. My Pi is a MAME games console, running a hat and connected to arcade controllers.”
