“I've got a few Pi 3 and Pi 4s - used as the centre of a home NAS and as emulators in homemade arcade machines. They're reliable and cheap but require some external cooling - passive cooling from an aluminium case from aliexpress seems to be more than adequate, cheap and reliable. There are active cooling solutions too but they're noisier, more expensive and less reliable.”
“Great piece of kit. Ordered it to hook up to a 1TB hard drive and act as a TimeMachine backup for my MacBooks. This was a very easy set up and the WiFi works really well to support this. The USB-3 connection to the HD was a much nedeed upgrade to the old RasiPi 2 I was using. This upgrade worked so well that I have also installed PiHole as well and it manages this on my entire network without yet even breaking 1% process usage or needing any additional cooling.”
