I took advantage of the 25% discount and I'm impressed with the easy installation and the excellent quality of picture it produces. Arrived in less than two weeks, well packaged. I'll continue to take advantage of discounted products.

Works fine! It has a fair amount of noise though, especially in low-light, which I think is to be expected with a sensor of this size. I would love it if there were more higher-end camera modules available to complement this one. Also, the field-of-view is fairly limiting. I know a fisheye lens is available to increase the FOV, but I think a better solution would be to make it easier to remove the integrated lens, or sell a bare-CCD module. That way, we can just use whatever lenses and mounts we have available. Whilst I think this module does a decent job, my three-star review is more representative of the fact that it seems like a bit of a 'jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none' kind of device. Yes, it'll work, but after you've got through prototyping, you'll probably wish you had something different.

easy to solder together, although I used the extended header which is a bit harder. Also using matlab instead of Python to drive the board and it was easy enough to create the interface script. Overall excellent hat and I will purchasing more Adafruit stuff from now on.

Camera was bought to see if it could be used as a security camera. In combination with Raspberry Pi 2 and Motion software it works as well as the commercial camera its replacing and has advantages in that recorded motion events are stored on the raspberry pi so do not need a PC left on permenantly. Camera works well and was easy to configure. (although configuration is by editing a config file - no nice graphical UI). However I did need to buy a longer connector cable. Have experimented with the Pi Hut lens and a few other cheap lenses but these are not necessary.
