The Raspberry Foundation still knows which products to develop. They keep those perfect the way they are and sudo apt-get update and upgrade those that they can. The 8MP version 2 of the Rpi Camera module is a perfect example of this. Just as they listened to the community when first coming up with the module and added a second, No-IR version due to popular demand, they again went ahead and updated both hardware and firmware to the specific needs of the evergrowing community. Truely 5/5

The camera works well and I'm using it for a "year in the garden" time lapse.

Camera works fine electronically/ software without any hassle but the mechanical fixed focus is a bit of a problem if you need the camera to focus close up i.e. less than .5M. The two glue blobs on the focus ring can be removed and the camera refocused if this is the case. I believe the original camera came with a focus tool and no glue blobs. This for me would have been far preferable hence my 3 stars.

When the camera turned up I was surprised at how small it was and didn't think I would get that good quality pictures. However after the very simple installation of the camera module and a quick change to raspi-config I was taking pictures and viewing video in no time. Both were far better quality than I had anticipated so very happy!
