“The raspberry pi3 has inspired me to learn and explore the possibilities of programming and especially the power of GPIO. Now that I have learned how to set up my own webserver, webcam (using the PiCamera, and build a robot dustpan I'm working on a project to automate my chicken coop to open/close the door, ensure the chooks have food and water and watch out for foxes all monitored and controlled remotely on the web (great for those cold, wet days when you don't want to go out but the chooks still need caring for!) The Raspberry Pi3 (and PiZeroW) has the power to do all this with the addition of only a few additional components (5v power; relay;light and home made water sensor; motor and solenoide valve). The hard part is learning Python to bring it all togerther!”

“Well I bought one for testing as a webserver. Loaded up the relevant files installed WordPress, does the job wonderfully. Now I'm going to try something more taxing and see how that pans out. I have another one of these lil units and followed the instructions for a small retropie handheld gaming system and I'm really impressed by it. Brilliant bit of kit and great for learning to program. If you don't have one and are umming and arring about it, buy it, you won't be disappointed. I would however suggest you buy a lead for the power supply that has an inline on/off switch to save yourself from repeatedly pushing in the cable to the pi. You don't NEED one but it makes life a bit easier. Happy pi user :bust_in_silhouette: here.”
