I bought the Pi 3 and installed raspian with the view to replace a Mac mini running OS X server. After a few trial installations to figure out the appropriate configuration of the OS and applications the Pi is now being tested as backup mail server. The server is powered by a small solar panel and cooled by a Peltier element. If the test goes well the setup is going to be deployed permanently with significant savings in power for HDD and aircon.

I bought the Raspberry to use it with the Google AIY obtain in the PiMag. Works great. I have to play more with it now.

I’ve bought from ThePiHut many times over the last few years, amazing service every time. I can’t recommend them enough! I love how versatile the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B is… I’ve used it for almost everything you can think of - weather stations, CCTV controllers, ambient/environment controllers, the list goes on. We recently bought a few more Pi 3’s to control our 3D printers remotely. In reality it’s like buying a Ferrari to do the school run as they are more powerful than required, however, the fact these will happily sit at 80-85c before bottlenecking means they’re perfect for operating in our 3D printer enclosures.

The packaging was very minimalistic (standard AirMail package) with no protection, not even a cardboard box, just an envelope. I was very surprised at first, but luckily the raspberry board seems to be working perfectly, no damage at all during transport.

I bought this to work with the Google AIY kit and had everything working in no time at all. Working with Raspberry Pis (this was my third) is a great way to be immersed in Linux and a great way to learn what can be a daunting OS to a noob.
