“Bought my first Raspberry last year to run a Gitlab server on it and I love it.
It's as stable as it can get, I did not had any problem with it since then.”
“Seems like I can't never have too many RPi3s... Just plain fun and reliable. Only small nag about power over micro USB, better off to power through "gpio" if possible.”
“I've been using the RPi range of products since the launch however many moons ago that was.
This third generation board is a great little board and it's my third or forth RPi 3, I've been trialing them as remote desktops onto one of my key Windows 10 workstations.
Performance running 3D CAD/CAM and PCB design on the RPi 3 thin client isn't an uncomfortable experience, data resides on my server, while the W10 Pro & RPi 3 configuration is really more of an application server. It should also be taken into account that I don't do rendering or other intensive actions where local graphic processing needs graphics cards costing more than the computer they are plugged in to..
The software I am using is from WTWare and so far my only niggle with it is mapping USB ports on the client into the server, there is a section on USB in the documentation, I need to sit down with a spare system and establish if this can be done, or not.
That probably means more RPi 3 orders in the next few weeks to add to my development network for some fine tuning or bashing of ones head against the wall for hours on end, until the missing comma or space, tick box et-al makes it all work.”
“Pretty much everything about this is fabulous - the size, the scope for all kinds of projects and the incredibly cheap price. A few small niggles: the plug is a bit cumbersome and the wifi is fairly weak but other than that very hard to fault.”
