“This was bought to create a CCTV camera using MotioneyeOS. Please note I have not used this device with Raspbian.
The Pi Zero W is an remarkably small device.
It is frustrating that the Raspberry Foundation have chopped and changed connector sizes, they have used three different sizes of HDMI port, two different USB ports for USB devices and even different camera connectors. So initially I could not connect anything to it except power and WiFi!
Yes my mistake for not doing the research properly, but I did manage to get the camera working headless without connecting a monitor or keyboard.
Running MotioneyeOS the Pi Zero W gets very warm even in 'fast video camera mode' where the Pi is doing minimal processing. Trying to use motion detection on the Zero was just not happening.
Eventually I got the Zero to do the job I hoped for, and I am very happy with the form factor. I am using a Pi 4 (2 GB) also running MotioneyeOS as a Server to acquire the data from the camera and save it to a Network drive, this works quite successfully.”
“Excellent product; Fast delivery; Good price. Ideal for small computing projects. If you don't already have one, buy an Essentials kit as well. It makes connecting so much easier.”
“The smallest of the family but it really does the job.
If there is any critisism is that the USB ports are next to each other and could be more apart.
It's really small (smaller than a credic card) and is really discreet.”
“A very good piece of kit for you to do millions of small projects from watering your garden to a security camera system there are millions of things to with it”
