“New to the Raspberry Pi so not much experience yet, I have 2 of these, I use one for retro gaming and the other one for security camera, got some other projects planned so will be buying some more at a later day, just dipping my toes in at the moment but liking very much what I see.”
“I was excited about the Pi Zero W because I wanted to build a minimal media server and the basic Pi Zero didn't cut it with its one USB port making it difficult to connect to the router and a hard drive at the same time. The addition of WiFi means you have a headless server out of the box, with just the addition of a power cable and an SD card, which is just great.
I ordered one the day they were announced and received it only a couple of days later.
However there was one surprise in store for me: the Pi Zero has an older ARM6 processor rather than the ARM7 in the 'full size' Pis. Some software relies on some of the extra instructions in the ARM7 spec and will fail (without any useful messages) on the Pi Zero, this is particularly the case for Plex Media Server that I was planning to use. In the end I found Logitech Media Server that suited my needs - i.e. supports Chromecast - and runs on the ARM6 processor on the Pi Zero.”
“Its size is great and the preinstalled SDcard works very well.
The wifi and bluetooth is very handy but I think the lack of an antenna limits is usable area”
“A miniature cheap Pi which works very well on almost all circumstances. I can't get my Pi Camera to fit though and I Do wish it had a battery management system akin to that on C.H.I.P. but hopefully that will come soon.”
